Off to the city forest

Off to the city forest

"How wonderfully nature shines for me," Johann Wolfgang von Goethe enthused in his poem about May. Even if it is currently raining, a walk through the city forest, for example, is always pure pleasure.

Goethe was not exaggerating when he described the radiant green. The trees outside are in full bloom, winter is finally over, exercise is in order.

Why? Walking gets the brain going - numerous empirical studies have long proven this. Companies like Facebook and Amazon hold their meetings while walking because the movement promotes creative thinking.

Haven't you ever gotten up from your desk, walked to the coffee machine, and poof, suddenly the saving idea came? Exercise relaxes to the maximum and relieves stress.

Digital detox and simply switch off

For such short breaks in nature, which calms, Frankfurt offers ideal conditions with its many green spaces: To the north the Wetterau, to the south the city forest, to the east around Bergen-Enkheim the Ried with ponds and moats beckons, and to the west the Vordertaunus with charming paths through apple fields.

Where better to switch off or digitally detox? Who wouldn't want to just relax instead of rushing from one appointment to another?

But what is actually meant by nature? The raging waterfall and the encounter with wild wolves rather not. (Just read that a she-wolf has taken up residence on the border of eastern Hesse. Let her go her way. I go mine. Live and let live ;-))

Nature? Very close!

So I imagine under nature rather park-like landscapes or just something like the city forest.

Such as the Goetheturm, which burned down in 2017 and is currently being rebuilt, can be found in the Sachsenhausen Stadtwald, surrounded by a charming children's playground.

And the Hessischer Rundfunk radio station presents a film about our beloved spot of Frankfurt nature undiscovered places in the little forest.

Not undiscovered, but extremely charming, lies in the Stadtwald, for example, also a part of the Goethe hiking trail.

Over a length of eleven kilometers, the route winds partly through the built-up city (sights!), then glides along the Main through the just lush green Stadtwald! I've already introduced you to more parks, gardens and monasteries in the post "Lust not Boredom."

Where do you prefer to relax in nature?
