The Frankfurt Tip Authors:

Sabina Brauner

Sabina Brauner has been living in the Rhine-Main area for more than 15 years and for the longest time in her desired district of Bornheim "because it connects village, city and conviviality in the most livable sense" for her. Nobody strolls through the world with such open eyes as the native of Lower Saxony, who prefers to share her discoveries with her fellow human beings on the Internet. The American and political scientist founded the blog "So nur in Frankfurt" in 2007 and is also Frankfurt's first over 40 fashion blogger on "Oceanblue Style". Here she writes mainly about lifestyle and fashion.

Finally sitting outside again! The sun is warming, the winter-stricken skin demands light, and we are longing for sweet idleness, the next city café is not far away. But there is still room for improvement! By the simple formula: Café plus green area. Unlike on the roadside, enjoying the park is like a little holiday in everyday life. No house casts shadows, instead there is light in the wide corridor. The bumble bees hum around on the wild meadow, while we wait for warm apple strudel with vanilla ice cream and the biggest café au lait that the pretty little house in Grüneburgpark has to offer.

The pavilion is located in the immediate vicinity of the Korean garden and the new campus of the university in Westend. The Park Café called "Park Café" is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. when the weather is fine. If you don't trust the weather app, just call. The menu offers down-to-earth things like salads, tarte flambée or pizza corners to satisfy the small hunger. The easiest access is from Albert-Siebert-Straße, whereby parking is very limited only in the adjacent residential area.

Better to take the bike. Above all, a tour to a real insider tip, which is located just behind the Friedberger Warte northeast of the city on the outskirts of Seckbach, is worthwhile: To the "BERGstation" in the Huthpark leads a beautiful avenue, which Theodor Fontane surely would have reminded of his hike through the Mark Brandenburg. The hilly Huthpark is, by the way, one of the few parks where dogs can romp freely. A garden pavilion has been situated on a hill since the 1930s. After many unused years, it has finally been rebuilt true to the original and was designed by employees of the renowned Bauhaus architect Ernst Mays. The now listed building is chicly furnished with red leather chairs and neutral colours inside. The architectural jewel characterises a rotunda with a round umbrella roof, slender round pillars and a bastion-like wall. The daily restaurant has a terrace with a fabulous view and is open during the week between 12 and 19 o'clock.

Not yet three parks with catering facilities:

Westen/Rödelheim ~ Brentantopark with water house On the island

Ostend ~ Ostpark: Water house located in the southern part of the park.

Nordend/Bornheim ~ Günthersburgpark : Small kiosk café on Comeniusstrasse
