The Frankfurt Tip Authors:

Sabina Brauner

Sabina Brauner has been living in the Rhine-Main area for more than 15 years and for the longest time in her desired district of Bornheim "because it connects village, city and conviviality in the most livable sense" for her. Nobody strolls through the world with such open eyes as the native of Lower Saxony, who prefers to share her discoveries with her fellow human beings on the Internet. The American and political scientist founded the blog "So nur in Frankfurt" in 2007 and is also Frankfurt's first over 40 fashion blogger on "Oceanblue Style". Here she writes mainly about lifestyle and fashion.

Fit for joy

Whether it's happy to be little need, I don't know. But what I can say is that every visit to the gym and every yoga session produces a lot of cheerfulness in me. Now the knowledge about it is only one side of the coin, the other side listens alternatively to such affectionate names as "inner pig dog" or "good resolutions" and "cuddly couch". In order to make my way to the gym more often, I started to make appointments with other people (girlfriends, colleagues, partners). I am shamelessly putting pressure on myself, all for my own good, because of - see above! Second strategy: the studio is right around the corner with me. Every person may be different, but short distances are one obstacle less on the way to happiness.

Now of course not everyone may push for fitness and prefer to do something good for themselves in a different way. All I can say is yoga. To all those who now groan and roll their eyes - either you haven't found the right teacher yet or you haven't tried it yet. Why do I have to say it like that? From own experience as participant, teacher and consultant. With interruptions I have been practicing yoga for about 20 years, about 15 years ago I completed my training as a yoga teacher, for more than five years I have been advising adults on course questions.

Yoga concepts there are as many as just something. I started with the basic concept of Hatha Yoga and found a fabulous teacher in the beginner's course. In the second course there was a change in the line, which I did not like. Since then I know: it has to fit, it doesn't mean that yoga is nothing. That's what an acquaintance thought before me. Fortunately, I was able to convince them not to throw in the towel the first time, but to have a long breath: either to go there at least three times. If things still don't go as planned, then simply try out another course, another teacher - whether in the gym or in yoga. It's certainly worth it! And listen to your own feelings. Two sports clubs that are popular with my friends and acquaintances:

*FTG Bockenheim (m. affiliated sports studio)

*TG Bornheim ( has just released a new winter program.)

You can try out the vast number of private studios to your own taste. I'm at the TG and I really liked the skilful introduction to the equipment and the individual advice from the trainers. I also like the relaxed atmosphere, the ambience with coffee bar at the counter and organic decoration very much personally.

*Yoga? What's important to you? How will you feel after the lesson? Is there a free trial lesson? How many participants are in the course? My former Studio is in Hofheim/Main-Taunus-Kreis. About 30 minutes by car from Frankfurt, small and personal. Yoga-Center Am Rosenberg.
