You know how it works with upgrades, don't you? Instead of always flying Economy, we finally catch Business Class or even better: First Class. Once you have experienced this, you never want to return to the economy. I felt the same way with the ice cream shop I tried this weekend. These temperatures! The sun! The blue sky! I discovered the “Aroma“, an ice cream manufactory near the Main River. Since then I don't want to eat any more ice cream anywhere else! Because the station district has really been waiting for such a shop. It goes perfectly with the hip bars and cool gourmet shops, which also seems to have gotten around, because last Saturday every table outside was occupied. Everyone wanted the ice cream from “Aroma“.
Some might think now - what has Sabina got, ice cream is ice cream. That's what I've been thinking. But I was so wrong wrapped, I tell you. So what is it about the ice cream in the “Aroma“?
I have to start a little unusual and say: The service is wonderful. Attentive and friendly. If you can't make up your mind about the more than twenty varieties that are usually presented in the display, like me, you can rely on the recommendations of the staff. I wanted „something fruity“ and served I got a sensational composition: Mango Alfredo, Raspberry and Yuzo Ginger. Sounds exotic? It is. Especially when it comes to the exceptionally intense taste. The mango ice cream was velvety, the raspberry was berry and ginger mixed with real fruit pieces. I also have to confess something to you: I love lemon ice cream. And after the first, delicious surprise I allowed myself the variant “Amalfi lemon“. Boooom! While ginger is soft on the palate, the Italian sour fruit is immediately present.
The ice cream of my dreams is creamy and very fruity.
Of course I brought you some special tips: Try the varieties “Riesling Nil“ during your next visit: „Riesling Nil“ - with original Riesling from the top Palatine „winery on the Nile“ converted into ice. Or how about salted butter caramel? For more enamel and sin is not possible. By adding sea salt, however, the ice cream is not sweet and sticky, but ideally balanced. The new brother of the classic “Gesalzene Erdnuss“ so to speak.
Now you will surely understand why the magazine FEINSCHMECKER recently named the ice cream manufacturer Aroma one of the 40 best in Germany (!). However, the two Italian owners do not rest on their laurels, but develop their assortment constantly motivated and with passion.
The guiding principle is not only a contemporary offer. No, they also take into account the latest nutritional trends: deliberately little sugar, vegan ingredients and so-called “superfoods“ are on the advance. The AROMA celebrates taste and composition as it should be for a manufactory.
Otherwise, the menu is pleasantly unagitated and concentrates on the essentials. For example, you can order a lovingly prepared cappuccino with Brussels waffles at coffee time. Whoever comes to visit me in Frankfurt will be invited by me to an ice cream in the AROMA ice cream manufactory!
