Let's face it? In the last post of the year, I have to chat out of the sewing box. New Year's Eve in Frankfurt is always especially beautiful. For me a visit to the Main for the big fireworks was ALWAYS part of it. Now that I've had the - guaranteed meaningful - security measures of the city in mind, I was struck by the thought of the American writer David Foster Wallace, who once so skilfully formulated: „Everything very beautiful. The next time however without me“.
However so completely can and I do not want to do without looking at the banging. We celebrate in a small group with delicious raclette, oysters and German champagne (sparkling wine!) with friends on the 20th floor in Sachenhausen. So this year the view is saved. So if you don't feel like mass gatherings, but want to cheer the New Year with a beautiful view, the following places are recommended:
Die Galeria Kaufhof invites you to the New Year's Eve party on the terrace of the shopping palace, very high-drobe, including a super view.
Am Main can be celebrated very nicely at the level of the ECB at the Weseler Werft. Last year there was a lot going on like at a rock concert.
The Neue Brücke directly at the Hanauer Landstraße really offers a postcard view of the city centre. Only Petrus has to play along,
The Lohrberg is popular and inspires with its fantastic, almost panoramic view of the city!
Full-bodied people can also get out of the city from some distance and up to the Feldberg in the Taunus not deterred, pack the picnic basket full and the wool socks to the feet. Equipped in such a weatherproof way, the party can start and the New Year can come.
I thank all readers for their loyalty and wish you a happy and successful New Year! Hopefully we will read each other again in 2017.
