The Frankfurt Tip Authors:

Sabina Brauner

Sabina Brauner has been living in the Rhine-Main area for more than 15 years and for the longest time in her desired district of Bornheim "because it connects village, city and conviviality in the most livable sense" for her. Nobody strolls through the world with such open eyes as the native of Lower Saxony, who prefers to share her discoveries with her fellow human beings on the Internet. The American and political scientist founded the blog "So nur in Frankfurt" in 2007 and is also Frankfurt's first over 40 fashion blogger on "Oceanblue Style". Here she writes mainly about lifestyle and fashion.

Mercy: Mode is coming

Today we descend from the rooftops of the city and plunge into summer fun: the great thing about it? Whether rain or sun, inside or outside, there is something for every taste. Frankfurt is still very much in vogue this month. Exhibition organizers, creative people and artists have come up with something new so that we can be entertained. Asking fashion designers into museums is the latest fashion: whether Dries van Noten in Antwerp or Alexander McQueen and Yohi Yamamoto in London. Now Frankfurt is not a fashion city? Yes, we can only make money :-) Anyone who allows Milan or Paris as the only standard can continue to believe the cliché.

We walk into the Modern Museum to admire the creations of the designer Kostas Murkudis, one of the most influential fashion designers in Germany. Over the past 20 years, he has collaborated with many international labels and is one of the few German designers to have achieved international recognition. As Creative Director he developed collections and looks for companies such as Balenciaga, New York Industrie, Pringle of Scotland, Closed and most recently Ter et Bantine. From 1986 onwards Kostas Murkudis worked intensively with the designer Helmut Lang for seven years, before he founded his own label KOSTAS MURKUDIS in 1994 and from then on cooperated again and again with artists for his designs .

The kind of inspiration and intoxication is recommended especially for all leather jacket fans the side trip around the corner, from Braubachstraße directly to the Römer in the newly designed Historical Museum, where the "Modeatelier Erika Segel-Reinhardt" presents a creative rebel and her visionary designs for leather jackets from the 50s. A visit to a museum also calls for a break and we always like to take a break at one of the numerous Museumscafés.
