Pub Quiz - Frankfurt searches for the guessing fox
Pub Quiz - Frankfurt searches for the guessing fox

Do you like to spend an entertaining evening? Do you like cracking hard nuts? Then I have something fabulous today: a pub quiz - something I regularly play in my language classes with my course participants.

At the beginning of the month now, the Deutsche Quizverein will be hosting quizzes all over the country, including here in Frankfurt of course. The game will be played on March 4th at the Irish Pub in Bornheim. You can register on the page of the association.

A special cup will be awarded on the topic of "art and culture" in addition to a city prize. The competition involves answering 100 questions in 60 minutes over a total of ten rounds.

If this sounds familiar to anyone, you're right. The so-called "pub quizzes" we're talking about here were the model for the game "Who Wants to be a Millionaire". Incredible questions have to be answered. Some you know with a solid general education. Other questions drive you crazy. Then we know that it would actually be time for a reliable telephone jocker. After all, the audience doesn't always necessarily know more than we do ;-)

How do pub quizzes work?

So now the German Championships are taking place. But in fact, the Rhine-Main area is great for guessing all year round. With questions like in "Trivial Pursuit" from the areas of trivia, politics, anatomy, with quotes or natural sciences.

The game is played in teams, unlike on TV. No one has to crack the hard nuts alone. There's no million for that then, but an incredible amount of fun. And also small prizes. My course participants were very happy about new notebooks last time. But the fun is the main thing. Fun, joy and the joke - all comes, of course, from the masters of good entertainment, the English. Of course, it is advisable to consult as quietly as possible, so that the troupe at the next table does not eavesdrop on something - unsuspecting as they look ;-)

Prizes will be awarded to the first three, the rest will go home with the feeling of having spent a fabulous evening. However, if you don't fancy waiting ages for a place on the team and love a challenge, make up your own puzzle for a superduper game night with friends at home.

The rest? Get put on a waiting list if necessary and throw themselves into the guessing fray. Among other things, eager guesses are made in the:

Irish Pub, Berger Straße 255, Frankfurt- Bornheim, Tel. 069/80060368

Games are of course played in two languages, German and English.

Good luck!
