How to cycle like clockwork: the spring check for your bike

If your bike is in good shape, you'll be happy. My neighbour cycles bravely in wind and weather through the area. I climb rather in the spring again in the saddle. But I am not the only one. Last Sunday, when the sun was shining so wonderfully, almost every inhabitant dusted off his bike. Wheels everywhere I looked!

After the winter I'm usually annoyed about cracking chains, lax brakes or worn tires. This spring, however, things are going to be different. I take the good old bike to the inspection. Thanks to my neighbour who takes care of his bikes. How well everything worked! It makes pedaling that much more fun!

A few weeks ago there was a huge wave at the bike repair shops. Even appointments had to be made in advance, I heard. Now it's bad weather right now, but sunshine is threatening by the weekend at the latest and then everyone will be running to the "bike check" again. In addition, one or the other feels inspired by the nationwide action day <link http: mit-dem-rad-zur-arbeit.de _blank>"By bike to work" from yesterday and pedals even more often in the future!

But what does such an inspection actually cost?

Prices, mostly flat rates, vary between 30 and 60 euros depending on the time of year. Also, the shops differ in the time they estimate for the inspection: some get the bike back in shape on the same day, others estimate three days for it. Which I personally don't mind if that's what the shop is around the corner for.

Other than that, what I do with my car applies to inspections: Arrangements before a more extensive repair as well as asking what will be done. Usually these are the necessary standards like tightening spokes and bolts, readjusting gears, checking chain tension and lubrication, tire tread and pressure, as well as brakes and lights.

If it takes time with the appointment: doing it yourself goes especially with oiling the chain. Maybe I'll book a full day bike tech course at the <link https: www.adfc-frankfurt.de _blank>ADFC Frankfurt? Next spring is coming for sure.
