Happy New Year, good health, happiness and contentment. Hope you had a good slide over! Gradually, the remnants of New Year's Eve are swept together and who still has free, stroll perhaps so in the first day of 2015 in our Main city, in which I like particularly that it is not only conveniently planted in the middle of the republic, but also borders directly on the Taunus. One of the many popular hiking and tobogganing areas in the immediate vicinity, without much effort and long journey convenient to reach by car or public transport.
So if you still want to use the next few days to relax in nature: nothing like up to the Feldberg. If the weather is in your mood, it rewards with a fabulous view of Frankfurt. And as for the hiking trails - all routes are tiptop signposted and provided with information on the total duration. Psst: As a self-confessed flatlander, I personally always prefer efficient tours that combine fitness with pleasure. Let's be clear, I'm referring to a forest walk of about an hour and a half plus breaks. But whether there's snow or not, by all means, march to the Fox Dance. It's well worth stopping for cheesecake, soup or mulled wine. We feel at least for the way back strengthened, which then pulls wonderfully warming steeply uphill!
Even the one who is not a real hiking friend, can find with child or dog on the Feldberg his joy. The parking lot often serves mulled wine in the winter, and the youngsters can frolic on small hills while the adults recharge in nature.
