Place there? The happiness of this earth hangs for mobile city dwellers on a small free place where the vehicle is parked. After all, both car and bike have to stay somewhere.
Who has a parking space in the company? Just last week, employees of the Katharinenkrankenhaus actually threatened to resign because commuters were taking away their parking spaces.
Place-wise, there is still steam in the boiler in Frankfurt.
The future of mobility, the I had imagined about carnival so beautifully in the last post, it is still waiting in the local transport policy.
The International Motor Show, or IAA for short. The daily mass of cars, bicycles and pedestrians, plus e-bikes and prams, whi ...

Brexite or not, brexite or not - the relations on the European level are now separated, but we can comfort ourselves: because whoever leaves, never leaves completely. So also from our British friends, who fortunately remain with us at local level. The close ties between Frankfurt and Great Britain have left their mark on us on the Main River.
Even if political Great Britain leaves the European Union today, the human, cultural and personal interaction remains de facto untouched. Although I did flip through the pages: Our fellow English and Northern Irish citizens are among the group of foreigners whose numbers have fallen most in the past year. Currently there are just over 2,000 B ...

Are you also infected by the January blues? The year is not really getting underway yet. Sigh. The bacon hasn't gone yet either. Little cause for joy so far. We could of course take it like our "still friends", the Londoners.
They have been organizing a "No trousers on the tube Day" for eleven years in the first month of the new year to drive away the January Blues.
We now know that English humour has been a very special one ever since.</And whoever is now wondering how our English friends implement the action in the subway on the way to work, and is wondering whether they really drop their pants, then I can assure you: yes.</Ladies and gentlemen wear twisted yarn on top, p ...

A Happy New Year. Welcome to the new 20s. I hope you all got in safely! If you're like me, the first thing I always like to do is drive stakes: Vacation dates, camps. To keep the essential ;-)
To give structure to the unknown that lies before you. And to motivate myself for the everyday life.
Where are the small and big freedoms, the everyday pleasures? The fun?
Even if resolutions are not my thing (there are still some untouched from three years ago lying around here, who else?), the hamster wheel doesn't have to start up again.</Where does life take place in Frankfurt? Less routine, more life, as the American teacher and reformer Amos Bronson Alcott so aptly and wisely f ...

End of October I was wildly determined: This year I would do everything better. Making a list of possible Christmas presents, buying a card in time and generally having a relaxed and organized walk with a Feuerzangenbowle over the Römer to the swivel grill.</Five days before Christmas Eve it would be time for a little reality check. Let's start with the good news: New Year's Eve is in the bag. Location, menu - everything tippitoppi regulated.
That we want to underline quite thickly, before we let our pants down here -Do you already have all presents? If not, then I have gift ideas at the last minute today, if you're wondering what I'm giving for Christmas?
As far as decor ...

Rattle cold was it today - perfect for an evening visit to the Christmas market in downtown Frankfurt. Which brings us to today's topic: What kind of Christmas market do you like best? Are you more traditional? Or do you prefer small, cosy markets that only take place on an Advent weekend? I have my favourite stand at the Frankfurt Christmas Market for the Feuerzangenbowle. My neighbour, on the other hand, visits a different market in the Rhine-Main area every Sunday and meets her family there. A colleague of mine likes special backdrops again.
So you'll find five fine Christmas markets here today in the InsideFFMBlog, which I especially like this year.
Which are very important? Lo ...

November is often regarded as a depressing month: grey, wet and cold.
There you are drawn to the sofa after work, with a glass of wine or a hot ginger tea and good. In fact, today I want to stir the drum for the eleventh month of the year, because he has so much adventure and comedy to offer outside. Starting with the colours of nature: gold, mustard and green have been in full bloom for a few weeks, bringing a golden note to the Rhine-Main area, forests and parks. Chestnuts like beech trees change from green to yellow and rich mustard at the ramparts or green oases like the Huthpark. A strong red here and there adds the horse chestnut as a bright spot of colour.

Autumn is in full swing, leaves on the roadside as well as the changeable weather and the change to the winter time testify to this. But for me there is no autumn depression since I got used to discovering something special in this supposedly grey month.
Which events in Hessen and Frankfurt open up a new world for me, I'll tell you today.
Jüdische Kulturwochen: Moving, enthralling, surprising

"Un es will merr net in mein Kopp enei, Wie kann nor e Mensch net von Frankfort sei," the local poet and journalist Friedrich Stoltze once called out in the chest tone of his conviction. If we had asked him what is so special about Frankfurt, his list would probably not have come to an end. I have pulled myself together and present to you today my 5 things that make our city so unique for me.
We have often thought together about what makes our city so worth living or loving. Frankfurt always scores well in city drinking when it comes to quality of life.
But what is it that distinguishes us from other places?
What makes Frankfurt stand out within the country?
"World city with ...

Were the cars just in focus, October offers really sensational cultural events. The book fair and the Van Gogh exhibition really make Frankfurt the cultural capital of Germany, if I may say so with all due modesty.
What do I do in Frankfurt in October?
A lot of Scandinavian moments, better said Norwegian moments, bring us the book fair right at the middle of the month.
As someone who studied literature as a child with a flashlight under his blanket and devoured his favourite books like "Hanni und Nanni", I find the Book Fair naturally wonderful.
For all of you who write, blog or podcast yourself, the Book Fair is of course an indispensable place: From bloggers to podcasters to self ...

It's Friday again. It's a climate strike today. The excitement of the week has shown that the climate is already on our doorstep. The Hessische Rundfunk and the venerable Frankfurter Allgemeine were just hitting each other on the ears. What had happened?
Pupils of a high school in Sachsenhausen want to cross the Baltic Sea on a school trip.
Because everyone is suddenly talking about the climate, those involved got a lot of scolding, because such a cruise ship is not considered to be particularly environmentally friendly.
Both media had opposing opinions. But the discussion shows The climate is no longer abstract. It's no longer about burning trees in Brazil, but about our decisions ...

Small and short - not even a real street and equipped with a pretty practical name, that's the "Alte Gasse". It's a fast one, too. In the city centre it connects the roundabout at Klaus-Mann-Platz with the busy Bleichstraße. Who pays attention to this small section, which finally flows into Peterstraße at the Wallanlagen at the level of the Escheinheimer Anlage? Who knows her?
She wasn't always that little noticed. In the past, for example, the cattle market was moved from the Rossmarkt to the Alte Gasse in 1822.

August is a firework of festivals and street parties in Frankfurt. So he lets it crash at the end of the summer. And why shouldn't I? We can still live inside soon enough. Even though I am certainly not a friend of the heat, I enjoy summer evenings very much.
Such a party with wine delight and singing makes me indulge in the Dolce Vita feeling. A neighborhood around the corner has been successfully inviting us to a small street party for years. Homemade cakes and a small flea market make sure that people who normally only greet each other while parking or fleetingly in the house entrance meet in a relaxed atmosphere.

The northern bank of the Main is now closed to traffic. So I got on my bike and pedaled through the city to test how bike-friendly Frankfurt is now. Because the city announced Dolles after Frankfurt 2018 didn't do very well in the test of the ADFC (Allgemeiner Deutscher Fahrradclub).
How do you move through the city? Are you one of those with a cargo bike? Do you put your helmet on your head in the morning and eagerly pedal into the office? Or do you use the bike like me mainly for things to do, or just to let you drift a bit through the streets?
Short and good: I like cycling for my life, but have mostly avoided it in Frankfurt so far.
What makes me prefer the car? Not ...

Recently I talked to a colleague. To his apology I have to say right away that he has only been living in Frankfurt for a really short time. And he's also moved from Berlin ;-)
In any case he's new in Frankfurt and so he's enraptured to say that it's nicer than expected here on the Main.
(Yes, what was he thinking, I thought to myself.)
So yes, that it is more beautiful than expected. But just now in summer he would miss the “holiday feeling“ in the city. Me: Sigh.
Berlin would have the unbeatable Wannsee, he complained. Etc. pp. You can guess the rest. If I now times the Heimweh-Faktor subtract and him the Umgewöhnungs-Aspekt zugutehalte, then I felt purely objectivel ...

Why wander far away when Frankfurt is still full of adventurous places to be discovered? Why crowd around the swimming pool with others, when there are many, partly quite unknown shady places with rippling water around Frankfurt? Do you want to get away from it all? Just get out of town or relax for a few hours? This is no problem in (and around) Frankfurt. And the good thing about it? It costs nothing!
So today I would like to share one of my favourite tips for discovering, relaxing and recovering with you:

There they roll now. The first electric scooters are on their way in Frankfurt.
Shortly decided to get on an electric scooter and jet through the city - this is now also possible in Frankfurt. In the Ostend, on the Zeil or in the Gallus I have already met some tentatively rolling fellow men. You probably noticed some of them?
I have to admit. The thought has charm. The first rental scooters have already been set up at several locations in the city centre.
Fast, easy and everywhere to find
As the E-Scooter is now officially introduced, I wanted to know what the devices look like, where they can be found and what I might have to pay attention to. When I asked around my friends a ...

Whether women are sorting out fashion sins to make second-hand money, or you need a serious tie - the second-hand business is booming. No wonder. And so it is not surprising that the industry has long outgrown its infancy and has discarded its dusty image.
In the meantime, besides the well-known junk shops, there are chic shops with shelves full of designer goods. And so Second-Hand has been able to win more and more customers in the past years. Why have I always bought second-hand?
A sustainable lifestyle is possible
An incentive is of course the good price-performance ratio. Where can you get a well-preserved No Name jeans for five to seven euros? But of course I always liked to ...

After the European elections it seems clear: the future is green. Questions like „How does my burger change the climate“ or „Who makes my clothes“ are becoming more and more important.
The city of Frankfurt thinks so too and will be hosting the event on the 16th of January. June the Sustainable Lifestyle Festival. The idea behind it? The environment can already be learned in childhood and adolescence! (Between us: A little tutoring doesn't hurt me either. In the sense of, new information and new ideas.)
To the new ideas belongs for me also the current trend to the veganen life-style.
First once: What is vegan? Those who eat purely vegetable, i.e. vegan food ...
