You surely know this too: You've been living in Frankfurt for many years - maybe your whole life - and you're always discovering places, streets, cafes, shops or cultural institutions that were completely unknown to you until now, or have simply fallen into oblivion. Therefore, it is nice when there are city guides not only for tourists and Neu-Frankfurter. The city guide "Frankfurt für Frankfurter" by Marco Polo is such a city guide. The book offers many tips in different categories, from eating & drinking to shopping, fun for children, trendy locations, festivals & celebrations to wellness & sports or clubs, bars & pubs.
There are many very well-known locations and tips in the individual categories, which every Frankfurt really knows. But in between there are always exciting and rewarding insider tips that make you want to get to know new sides of the city away from the main pub or the well-known restaurants. As a rule, the individual tips are presented with brief informative descriptions and information about the address, homepage, opening hours and how to get there by public transport. A selection of highlights will also be highlighted and given a brief justification for their selection. A lot of nice pictures also contribute to your desire to try out some of the insider tips for yourself. The target group is quite diversified, which is why you can find tips for every taste and every purse in every category.
Finally, however, a little criticism must also be allowed. It is true that at the end of this 13th, updated edition it says that errors are possible despite intensive research. And of course it happens in a big city like Frankfurt that restaurants, clubs or shops have to close very suddenly. And so one must not be angry about the fact that here still some localities are mentioned, which have given up without doubt only after editorial deadline the enterprise. But unfortunately a few tips have crept in here that haven't been around for some time, like the Club Odeon or the PUT event stage. Such changes should actually be noticeable. But of course this can happen with the abundance of tips offered here, that something like this is overlooked. However, such weaknesses become even more apparent in the tips on the digital offerings around Frankfurt. Thus here pages and Blogs are praised, which seem to lie fallow already longer or in the past months hardly new contributions published. Since the number of tips here is very clear, a click on the respective homepage would have been enough for an update to see that perhaps a few new tips would be appropriate here.
Beyond that, "Frankfurt für Frankfurter" is a really helpful and well compiled city guide for Frankfurters, but also for all guests of the city, who do not only want to visit the usual tourist destinations. Read and recommendable!
