The community of Avengers is broken! Two years have passed since Captain America (Chris Evans) turned against Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), whereupon the Avengers went their separate ways. But now the superheroes are more urgently needed than ever: the mighty intergalactic villain Thanos (Josh Brolin) threatens Earth in his search for the six Infinity stones. If he succeeds in getting all six stones into his possession, then he can wipe out millions of lives with just a flick of his finger. He approaches the earth inexorably and comes ever closer to his goal. And with every Infinity stone that Thanos takes, the number of its victims grows, while the chances of defeating it dwindle more and more…

There it is: "Avengers: Infinity War", the film that the Marvel cinema universe has been working towards for ten years now. Anthony and Joe Russo, who already directed "Captain America: Civil War", faced the mammoth task not only of putting together (almost) all the characters from the ever-growing MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe), but also of leading a story prepared in many of the previous films to a satisfactory climax. With the result they should satisfy most fans absolutely, but at the same time also present film critics like me with an enormous challenge: I would like to write here about so many details of the film, concretize my impressions and just go into the last act (especially why I - although I find it great - have a tiny problem with it).

However, I can't do all that, because every form of spoiler would destroy the numerous surprise effects of the film and harm the intensity of some scenes. And since I want to avoid that, I have to confine myself to a rather superficial criticism, which perhaps will be followed by a more in-depth review at the home cinema start, when really every fan has seen the film. So, now that this is said, I can at least tell you why I give "Avengers: Infinity War" the highest score - even if there may be some small justified criticisms.

The movie is of course dominated by action sequences that take place on Earth, in space and on various planets. There's a big crash and sometimes it's a little overloaded. But the Russo brothers also always create the right counterbalances to these sequences, on the one hand through a lot of humour, which is primarily due to the Guardians of the Galaxy, but also through the wonderful cabbage between Iron Man and Doctor Strange. On the other hand, there are also some quieter, more emotional moments that work really well. And some of them - and this is a surprise that I may reveal - actually concern Thano's chief villain. The makers have succeeded in turning this character from a one-dimensional destroyer of the universe into an astonishingly multi-layered figure. His intentions aren't exactly new, but at least they're presented in a comprehensible way, which makes his fight against the concentrated superhero alliance really exciting.

Although there's no shortage of characters, that some of them get a raw deal, the makers obviously tried to give every single character at least one big scene. And at this point I'd like to say something else that positively surprised me: It is just two rather "little" Marvel heroes who play a very central role in the story, which means that they are not completely eclipsed by Iron Man, Thor and the other successful audience favourites.

"Avengers: Infinity War" has become exactly the film that one could expect to be the provisional highlight after ten years of MARVEL adventures. Big, technically perfect, exciting, funny, emotional, rousing - simply good! And in the end you can be happy that the next "Avengers" film will be released in the cinemas next year, because the end… no, that's all I say. But don't forget, this is a MARVEL movie, so be sure to stay seated until the end of the credits! Absolutely worth seeing!!!!!
