If you are travelling in the Westend and are looking for a light, if possible healthy meal, you are in good hands in the SALÄDCHEN on the Bockenheimer Landstraße. The small chain, which now has eleven branches in Cologne, Marburg, Gießen, Freiburg and Dortmund, among others, also has two locations in Frankfurt: one at the airport and one in the Westend. The small shop radiates a very cosy atmosphere. Here you can sit on sofas and armchairs and eat your salads, wraps, baked potatoes or soups. The whole thing is kept in white and green, which in connection with the lovingly playful equipment fits very well to the concept of the SALÄDCHEN family.
The concept is very simple: in addition to a few ready-made variants to choose from, you can also put together your own individual salad here. As a basis there is a mixture of leaf salads or noodles - or for those who like both, a half and half variant. In addition, there are about 30 different basic ingredients such as carrots, corn, gouda, mushrooms or soya bean sprouts, as well as a number of special ingredients ranging from shrimps and chicken teriyaki to dried tomatoes, mozzarella or walnuts. There are also some homemade dressings to choose from, including a classic balsamic dressing, but also curry mango, honey mustard or a vegan dressing Sylt style.
The basic and special ingredients of a salad can also be chosen as contents for wraps of spicy wheat flat cakes or as an addition to tasty baked potatoes. In addition, changing soups and sweet desserts are also available for the small or larger hunger. The price-performance ratio is okay, even if you could argue about some special ingredients, if the price for the offered quantity is really justified. During our visit we tried a mixed salad with Teriyaki chicken. In addition there is a choice of Ciabatta or multi-grain rolls. The portion was quite satisfying for a lunch snack. The ingredients were fresh and the salad very crisp. The chicken meat was nice and tender and the seasoning was good, but not too intense. So the dressing and the other ingredients could still unfold their taste well.
The service was very friendly and helpful with the selection. In the cosy ambience the salad tasted really good. At noon a lot of guests came from the adjoining offices, which is why the small shop quickly filled up. If you can't find a place inside, you can also find a few places outside or of course you can take the food with you. And if you are in a hurry, you can also put together your salad online and pick it up directly at the checkout at the desired time.
With SALÄDCHEN, the really ingenious concept in its simplicity is particularly convincing, but the implementation is also quite successful. So one can confidently say: Those who are in the surroundings and like colourful salad variations and soups should definitely stop by. Therefore we also recommend:
