Update: Jambo Streetfood in the Töngesgasse is unfortunately already history again! But you can still enjoy the delicious food in the Jambo Bar in the Bahnhofsviertel!
Since the beginning of June 2016, the Jambo Bar in the Bahnhofviertel has not only delighted its guests with delicious cocktails, but also with delicious Kenyan food. The siblings Faruk Sketty and Thuweba Anthes invite you here in a cozy urban ambience to relax after work. There, where the two once operated the "Livity", there are now over 60 varieties of Gin and Swahili Streetfood. And since it is so well received by the guests, the popular bar has now got a new generation that concentrates entirely on the delicious food.
In der Töngesgasse, near the Kleinmarkthalle, Jambo Streetfood recently opened. The offer in the small shop is clear, but all the more tasty. At fair prices you can buy tender lamb in spicy tomato sauce or chicken in curry sauce. The beef in white cabbage with steamed onions is also really delicious. Of course, it is also possible to use pure vegetarian with cooked kidney beans in a coconut sauce, refined with African spices. Rice with lentils is generally served as a side dish (also very tasty). But there is also Swahili flat bread, which takes a little longer to prepare. If you are in a hurry, you should call first and order the "Chapati". Everything we tried during our visit was very delicious and pleasantly spicy. The service was friendly and all questions about the Swahili cuisine were gladly answered. Special requests from other guests were also gladly accommodated.
Whoever likes to relax, a visit to the Jambo Bar is definitely recommended. But if you are looking for a tasty meal beyond bratwurst and burgers in the city centre, you should definitely stop by Jambo Streetfood. A real recommendation!
