Every year since 1975, it has been fairytale-like in Kassel at Christmas time: since then, the Christmas market has always been dedicated to the tales of the Brothers Grimm.
Other highlights are the late-night shopping on 26 November and the popular fairytale ice slide on Treppenstraße, which from this season onwards is equipped with a weatherproof roof, so that the rapid slide becomes pure pleasure in any weather. Fairytale motifs from the world-famous tales of the Brothers Grimm also ensure that the fairytale ice slide now lives up to its name visually.
From the Ferris wheel, the sea of lights of Kassel's city centre can be overlooked in a unique way, and the secluded Fairytale Forest at Friedrichsplatz and the world's largest Christmas pyramid (22 metres high, 6 storeys and illuminated for Christmas) can also be found in their usual places.
