On 16 October, 11 November and 10 December 2019 join "Jazz? We Can!" artists you don't meet all the time in this country. Selected by music journalist and jazzparexcellence expert Oliver Hochkeppel.
The beginning is Max Merseny, the charismatic, echo nominated vertical starter among the German saxophonists, who is often mentioned in the same breath as his role model, David Sanborn, the king of the saxophone groove in the eighties. But Merseny's own mixture of jazz, funk, R&B, soul and hip-hop sounds both traditional and hip.
In November, the Duo Lottchen will become international: Eva Buchmann, born in Holland and educated in Berlin, meets the Swiss vibraphonist Sonja Huber. Vibraphone and singing, this rare combination unfolds an irresistible charm in the two young women.
Pertinent to the Christmas season, "Jazz? We Can! ended the year stylishly with singing - and one of the most promising young singers: Hannah Weiss grew up in a family of artists in Basel and Zurich and has been surrounded with music since her childhood. She will be accompanied in the Living Hotel Frankfurt by the young American pianist Sam Hylton, who belongs with the band Ark Noir to the shooting stars of the German scene.
It's worth being and listening! Invited are all guests of the house, the Sachsenhausen neighbours, all Frankfurters and simply everyone who likes to make and listen to good music.
The entrance is free.
