The Homburger Hof : A 'little place in happiness' and bowling on the Ebbelwoi

The Homburger Hof : A "little place in happiness" and bowling on the Ebbelwoi

Category: Restaurants

In the - admittedly somewhat inconspicuous - Frankfurt district of Eckenheim hides a real gem of Frankfurt Gemütlichkeit: the Ebbelwoi Wirtschaft Homburger Hof. This is where the Frankfurt way of life is cultivated and where people drink, feast and laugh in a down-to-earth way (just like Frankfurt is). Is it worth going all the way to Eckenheim just for an Äppler? Our answer: Yes, definitely and absolutely! Because the Homburger Hof has some very special highlights to offer that you won't find anywhere else in the Main metropolis. Let's not beat around the bush. And already we are at the first topic:

Selbstgekeltert & klassisch Hessisch

Beim Homburger Hof comes to mind first the self-pressed apple wine and apple juice. This is always served while stocks last. With this incomparable Schoppen you can really taste how much heart blood is in it. From the shaking of the trees in the orchards, to the handpicking and pressing of the apples: here everything is still homemade, which is unfortunately becoming rarer and rarer these days. Of course, a good Schoppen should also be accompanied by something hearty and preferably something classically Hessian. Here the menu of the Homburger Hof leaves nothing to be desired. Tip: The "Hessen Schnitzel Deluxe" - au gratin with snowflake, green sauce and salad is the perfect choice for those who always have a hard time making decisions. So many good things all at once . yum! If you like to pick here and pick there when you eat, you can't go past Hombis jar etagere. You can't get more variety than that. You can expect a jar of Wetterauer Handkäse "Klassisch", "Mal Anders", "Pikant" and green sauce with egg, snow flurry, salt sticks, crusty bread and butter. By the way, the products come from the region, accordingly, the dishes on the menu vary according to the season.

Kegeln auf Frankfurterisch

With the Homburger Hof, innkeeper Andreas Kimmel fulfilled his professional life's dream in 2010. For many years, the trained hotel specialist worked in gastronomic businesses and hotels in different locations. Then he was seized by the desire to build up something of his own - and by the love for cider. He discovered the "Homburger Hof" cider tavern with a tradition of more than 100 years and was hooked. Understandable, because the history of the farm and the inn is omnipresent everywhere in the rooms. Thanks to his commitment and that of his team, a place was revived that had previously lain fallow for years. It was important to Andreas Kimmel to retain as much of the inn's originality as possible. For this, the innkeeper was nominated for the "Frankfurter Gründerpreis" in 2011 - and even made it to the finals. With the inn, Andreas Kimmel also took over the bowling alley - the next highlight of the Homburger Hof. Andreas Kimmel would never have thought of running a bowling alley. He considered bowling (just like the Homburger Hof before he took over) to be a bit dusty and outdated. But his guests soon proved him wrong: "It's unbelievable how much fun bowling is for young and old alike," he enthuses. Part of the special fun of bowling at the Homburger Hof are Frankfurt legends who grace the lanes with a painted portrait: Liesl Christ, Dr. Hammer Nickel, Dynamit Rudi and Rosemarie Nitribitt. And a special offer: Bembelkegeln. The players get a 6er Bembel Apfelwein or apple juice for free. By the way: in the cellar right under the bowling alley the self-pressed apple wine is stored.

Creative hosts

The Homburger Hof is also popular as a location for events - for christenings, weddings, birthday parties or corporate events, customers like to rely on the creative ideas of Andreas Kimmel. The premises offer a large scope for celebrations of all kinds. In the blink of an eye, the Bembelkegelbahn can also be transformed into a flexible event space for up to 160 people. Recently, for example, presenter Barbara Schöneberger celebrated there as part of her women's magazine BARBARA. What was the nicest compliment a guest once gave you, we want to know from Andreas Kimmel: "A guest once said to me that he had found his little place in happiness at the Homburger Hof" - that's really a compliment! So drop by, maybe you'll feel the same way!
