Rheingau Wine Market on the Freßgass returns to its original form

The Rheingau Wine Market has achieved something special: the traditional festival was the only one that did not have to be cancelled entirely during the Corona pandemic. Both in the summer of 2020 and 2021, the smaller Rheingau Wine Market offered a Corona-compliant alternative, where selected vintners could present their wines and offer them for tasting. As nice as it was that there was at least this variant, it is also pleasing that this year the Rheingau Wine Market can again take place in its original form. From Wednesday, August 31, to Friday, September 9, only Rheingau wineries (which also include the Frankfurt winery on the Lohrberg) will be guests on the "Freßgass" promenade. A total of 31 vintners will be presenting their own stands and wines in the heart of Frankfurt.

"The Rheingau Wine Market is a very special festival," says Thomas Feda, managing director of the organizing Tourismus+Congress GmbH Frankfurt. "No sound system, no program. The focus is on the wine, its producers and its lovers." As a result, Feda adds, the Rheingau Wine Market is a particularly beautiful and relaxed festival that shows that Frankfurt is much more than just a cider town. It is a festival where one can meet friends in a relaxed way during the lunch break or - which is used particularly intensively - at the end of work. With lively conversations a noble drop enjoy, while the day slowly fades away - that is in these days on the Freßgass particularly beautiful is.

"The visitors may look forward to filigree and fruity wines of the vintage 2021", says the Rheingau wine princess Mara Schneider. In addition to a diverse range of wines, the 2021 vintage is a particular focus. The Rheingau winegrowers convince with their fruity wines in good quality. The wines show themselves filigree and in the nose very aromatic with moderate alcohol contents. A fresh liveliness rounds off the white wines. "The wines are very fruity and the relationship between sweetness and acidity is very harmonious and balanced. The terroir comes into its own particularly well in the 2021 Rieslings and promises a multi-layered drinking pleasure," explains Peter Seyffardt, president of the Rheingau Winegrowers' Association.

Seyffardt is also pleased to welcome four newcomers to the festival. After the cancellation of four vintners who were represented at the Rheingau Wine Market in the past, the Peter Flick Winery and the Prinz von Hessen Winery, among others, are now making their debut at the Freßgass.

The Rheingau Wine Market is also something very special for Frankfurt Wine Queen Lena Roie. "In my office, I represent the wine city of Frankfurt am Main and am very pleased to welcome all the winegrowers and wine queens and princesses of the Rheingau to the Main metropolis with my sponsoring winery, the Winery of the City of Frankfurt am Main," says the wine queen.

The offer of the vintners and winegrowers is supplemented by culinary delicacies, especially from the direct gastronomic Freßgass residents. Opening hours are daily from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Since the Freßgass is located in the middle of the city, it is optimally connected by public transport. So the S-Bahn stop Hauptwache is nearby, as well as the subway station Alte Oper.
