The Frankfurt Airport - the gateway to the world! Most Frankfurters have been here before - be it to travel to distant countries, to get a taste of holiday air on the visitor's terrace or to visit one of the numerous special events. It is one of the largest employers in the region and, with 70.5 million passengers in 2019, the fourth largest airport in Europe. With over 2 million tons, Frankfurt Airport also has the largest cargo volume of any European airport and the eighth highest worldwide.
But haven't you ever wondered what is actually needed to keep such a gigantic system running? Which work steps have to be interlocked in order to guarantee a smooth procedure for passengers and freight transport? You can find out all this and much more on one of the exciting and informative tours of the apron of Germany's most important air traffic hub.
After the Airport tours could not take place in the last few months due to the Corona Pandemic, you have been able to take part in the Airport Tours from the 15th century onwards. July 15th you will finally have the opportunity to experience the unique atmosphere of Frankfurt Airport and the exciting events on the apron up close: take-offs, landings, parked aircraft from all over the world and the many small and large processes that take place during handling.
New is the name - and it is also the programme: The Comeback Tour takes up many aspects that confirmed airport fans already know. In addition, it also has a lot of new things to offer that you have never experienced before. The tour - like almost everything else at the moment - is under the auspices of Corona. There are numerous new regulations that the airlines and the airport have to observe and implement and which are communicated in an exciting and informative way by the tour guides. This is because Frankfurt Airport is of outstanding importance for Germany, particularly in the current situation - for example in the supply of medical supplies. Temporarily decommissioned aircraft, packed turbines, tail units previously unknown at FRA - all this makes Frankfurt Airport a completely new setting for a unique excursion experience.
The following applies to all trips: With 22 participants per tour, only half of the available seats in the bus are occupied - the minimum distance is therefore consistently maintained. Nevertheless, the wearing of a mouth and nose protector during the trip and throughout the airport building is mandatory. All other infection protection regulations of the State of Hesse have also been fully taken into account.
The first tour starts at 10 a.m., the last tour at 4 p.m. Individuals pay 8.28 euros, the reduced price is 6.33 euros. It is valid (upon presentation of appropriate proof) for children from four to seven years of age, pupils, trainees, students, senior citizens over 65 years of age, as well as persons with a disability card and their accompanying person registered in the card.
The crooked price results from the fixed VAT reduction, which is of course passed on to visitors as a price advantage.</The visitors' terrace of the airport will remain closed for the time being.<x>BR>/x>>>>/strong>A good view can be enjoyed from the three spotter points around the airport until then.
Passengers and visitors can find information about the wide range of services at Frankfurt Airport at travel homepage, at Service-Shop and via the social media channels on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.
For the time being, the new offer is on trial until the end of August. From Wednesday to Friday, seven round trips start daily, and 14 trips each on Saturday and Sunday. Currently, advance booking is mandatory at https://www.frankfurt-airport.com/de/faszination-airport/flughafen-rundfahrten-und-souvenirs.html/.
