40,000 DIY fans visited the Kreativ Welt trade fair in Frankfurt

40,000 DIY fans visited the Kreativ Welt trade fair in Frankfurt

People tinkered, sewed, knitted, baked and bought to their hearts' content: For four days, the creative community from the Rhine-Main region and beyond bustled about at the Kreativ Welt trade fair in Frankfurt. Around 40,000 visitors, 300 exhibitors and 100 hands-on offers were counted by the organizer, the Frankfurt trade fair & Event GmbH.

Great offers for beginners and experts

Aliye Yilmaz was at Kreativ Welt for the first time and immediately gave it a 5-star rating on Facebook. "Have been thrilled. So many possibilities, so much choice - a dream for every creative to develop according to their wishes," she sums up her visit to the fair. That's exactly what sets Kreativ Welt apart: regardless of whether you're a beginner or a passionate do-it-yourselfer - the fair has a wide range of products from the fields of handicrafts, handwork, jewellery, fashion, decoration and baking. For example, Dagmar Ilsen from Ilsens reports: "People who like a reduced style and are rather inexperienced do-it-yourselfers come to us. They can easily put together individual fairy lights with us without any prior knowledge." Jürgen Wörner from Ideen mit Herz, on the other hand, was able to attract numerous experienced craft fans to his stand and is satisfied to have "made his fans happy". Many stands also held workshops where visitors could get tips and tricks directly from the professionals and take them home to copy. In high demand this year were, among others, live demonstrations on handlettering, the art of beautiful writing.

Sewing is a cross-generational trend

The stand of Ideenreich from Offenbach exemplifies the trend that young and old alike are passionate about sewing. Here, three generations around owner Andrea Zenker stand behind the sales counter: "We are here for the first time as exhibitors and are totally thrilled! At our "home game" we were able to attract many regional customers from all age groups." Peter Flach from Nähwelt Flach in Aschaffenburg attributes the unbroken popularity to digitalisation: "Many people spend so much time in front of screens that they want to do something themselves with their fingers in their free time again. Sewing is a welcome relaxation there." A crowd puller at Kreativ Welt 2018 is and will therefore remain the daily raffle of a high-quality sewing machine sponsored by Nähwelt Flach.

Upcycling - a hit in Kinderland

"The fair was great - and I'm poor now!" says Verena Gillmann from Frankfurt about her visit to Kreativ Welt. On her shopping tour through the two hall levels, she also made a detour to Kinderland, where her daughter made a great angel. Yvonne Schneider of the Frickel Club from Offenbach is a provider of children's craft stations: "I am overwhelmed by the rush to see us! Both children are eagerly tinkering along and educators are getting ideas for their professional practice. In particular, the upcycled items, crafting with disposable items such as yogurt cups, is seen as very new."

Creatives from the Kitchen

Involved for the first time this year and an immediate hit with visitors: sweet temptations from the creative kitchen. In addition to exhibitors offering baking moulds, motif dough rolls and colourful fondants, star baker Patrick Dörner (winner of the Sat.1 show "Das große Backen" from 2017) was also at the start. He entertained visitors on the programme stage with "Mirrow Glace", an impressively reflective cake. Next to such co-exhibitors, Thomas Tanzen of Lutschebuller thought he would be drowned out, but far from it: "Every time I made lollipops with the kids, a huge crowd formed around my stand. I had super fun that the homemade lollipop was such a draw!"

The next Kreativ Welt will take place from 31.10. to 3.11.2019.
