Das Erste shows new hr-'Tatort' with Hannelore Elsner in one of her last roles

The Frankfurt TATORT investigators Janneke and Brix aka Margarita Broich and Wolfram Koch are on Sunday, April 19, at 8.15 p.m. on Ersten back in action. The special thing about "The Good and the Bad": In addition to Broich and Koch, Hannelore Elsner can also be seen in one of her last roles. Peter Lohmeyer also plays a leading role in the crime thriller, which tells of a murderer suspected in the ranks of the police - and of a case of vigilante justice.

Hannelore Elsner, who died almost exactly a year ago on April 21, 2019, embodies with intense restraint a retired inspector who is confronted here with a case she was never able to solve. The film was directed by Petra K. Wagner and the screenplay was written by David Ungureit. In other roles are Dennenesch Zoudé, Isaak Dentler, Werner Wölbern, Zazie de Paris, Sascha Nathan, Samuel Simon and Dina Hellwig. "The Good and the Bad" premiered at the Festival des deutschen Films in Ludwigshafen in September 2019. In early March, it also screened as the opening film at the FernsehKrimi Festival in Wiesbaden, where Petra K. Wagner was awarded the special prize for directing.

And that's what "Die Guten und die Bösen" is about: After a night of drinking, Anna Janneke (Margarita Broich) and Paul Brix (Wolfram Koch) are called to a crime scene, heavily hungover: A man has apparently been tortured and murdered in a lonely cabin in the woods. To their astonishment, police chief Ansgar Matzerath (Peter Lohmeyer) makes a confession while still at the scene of the crime. He claims to have killed the man because he kidnapped and raped his wife seven years ago. He does not value extenuating circumstances and demands a harsh punishment for himself. Complicated by extensive renovation work in the police station and coaching sessions taking place at the same time, the commissioners begin their interrogation. Is Matzerath really the perpetrator? Is the victim really his wife's rapist? What does the long-retired detective Elsa Bronski (Hannelore Elsner), who worked on the case at the time and never solved it and is still chasing her own demons, know? Piece by piece, Janneke, Brix and detective assistant Jonas (Isaak Dentler) put the pieces of the puzzle together, encountering new questions that affect their own work and shake the way they see themselves as police officers .
