Deutsche Bahn invites to bicycle auction at Frankfurt Central Station

This coming Saturday, 27. April, prospective trainees for transport service in the first year of training at DB Station&Service AG will conduct a public bicycle auction from 10 am on the cross platform of Frankfurt Central Station at the level of track 24 with free admission. Around 100 bicycles will go under the hammer without any guarantee of condition, completeness or functionality. The auctioned bicycles must be paid for immediately in cash; no exchanges will be accepted. The minimum age for participation in the auction is 18 years.

Around 250,000 items are found in Deutsche Bahn stations and trains throughout Germany every year and are collected, registered and managed in more than 80 lost property offices. The lost property is stored for seven days at the respective lost property office. If they can be assigned to an owner during this period, the owner is notified. If the owner cannot collect them immediately, they remain in the lost property office for up to three weeks. After that, they are automatically forwarded to the Central Lost Property Office of Deutsche Bahn in Wuppertal. Lost property that could not be assigned to an owner within the retention period of 90 days or was collected and is auctionable will be sold by public auction in accordance with the statutory provisions.

The proceeds from the auction will be kept for the owner for three years. After that, it goes as revenue to the railroad to fund the lost and found service.

Lost property owners can obtain information on the Internet www.fundservice.db.deor via the lost property service hotline (Tel.: 0900 1 99 05 99 (59 cents/min. from the German fixed network) to report the loss of their item. In addition, the extensive research carried out by our lost property service staff also leads to the exceptionally high return rate of over 60 percent.
