The victory against FC Internazionale Milano has caused great joy among fans of Frankfurt Eintracht, but of course also among the team itself. Because it paved the way to the European Cup quarter-finals - for the first time in 24 years. The team can be absolutely proud of that. Now the question was who Eintracht would face in the next match. In Nyon, Switzerland, the next round of the UEFA Europa League got underway on Friday at 1 pm. And thus it is now certain: the eagle bearers get to deal with SL Benfica on April 11 and 18.
For Eintracht, board member Axel Hellmann, legal advisor Philipp Reschke and board advisor Rainer Falkenhain were on site for the draw. This was conducted by Dutchman Pierre van Hooijdonk, who has won the UEFA Cup once before (2002).
The first match will take place in Lisbon on April 11. The big decider will be at home in the Commerzbank Arena on April 18 - with both games kicking off at 9pm. Let's hope there's plenty of reason to celebrate on the night of 19 April! A win, by the way, would mean that Eintracht would meet the winner of SK Slavia Praha vs Chelsea FC in the semi-finals. Then the first match would be played in Frankfurt.
