When the first vaccine against the corona virus will be approved, we do not know yet. The (justified) hope, however, is that it will perhaps be approved before Christmas or at the beginning of the New Year. That is why vaccination centres are now being planned and set up all over the country - including in Frankfurt. Now it has also been decided where the COVID-19 vaccination centre of the city of Frankfurt is to be built: on the grounds of Messe Frankfurt.
Under the direction of the public health department with the support of the local disaster control, a planning staff vaccination centre was recently set up. The central task of this planning staff is to ensure the establishment of the necessary infrastructure and the punctual start-up of the vaccination centre. With the decision to set up the vaccination centre on the exhibition grounds, planning security has been established for all those involved and work can now begin on setting up the vaccination centre, which is to be ready for operation by 11 December 2020.
Prof. René Gottschalk, head of the public health department, says: "I am confident that we will have the vaccination centre operational by 11 December, especially due to the good cooperation between the public health department and the fire department in the planning staff. With this trade fair we have another competent partner at our side".
The public health department is currently determining the personnel requirements for the vaccination centre, where at least 60 percent of Frankfurt's residents are to be vaccinated against the corona virus in the next few months.
The city will provide further details on the vaccination centres, mobile teams, procedures and the prioritisation of groups of people to be vaccinated as a matter of priority in a timely manner. We will keep you up to date!
