German Championship in Stand Up Paddling comes to Frankfurt

German Championship in Stand Up Paddling comes to Frankfurt

What was originally only practiced by Polynesian fishermen for practical reasons and was once reserved for the king and a select few in Hawaii has developed into a popular leisure sport since the beginning of the 21st century at the latest: Stand Up Paddling, or SUP for short. You stand upright on a surfboard and move with the help of a paddle similar to canoeing. Of course, you need a good sense of balance for this - especially if you do the whole thing not only on shallow waters, but in high waves.

Stand Up Paddling is also becoming increasingly popular in Frankfurt. Courses are offered regularly and you can watch Stand Up Paddlers on the Main river again and again, not only when the sun is shining. On August 5th this will be especially possible, because then the German championship in SUP flat water will take place in the Main metropolis - for the first time organized by the trio DKV (Deutscher Kanu Verband e.V.), DWK (Deutscher Wellenreiterverbrand e.V.) and GSUPA (German SUP Association). From the boathouse of the Frankfurter Kanu-Verein 1913 e.V., participants in four competition classes and eight age groups can compete in two disciplines (Sprint: 200 meters, Distance: between 4,000 and 8,000 meters).

Registration is still possible until July 28. The entry fee is 40 <x>Amp</x>euro; for adults and 15 <x>amp</x>euro; for children and youth under 18 years. <link http: deutsche-sup-meisterschaft.de informationen.html _blank>You can find all further info HERE.

The German Championship will start on 05.08. at 10:30 am with the long distance competition, followed by the sprint competition at 13:30 and the award ceremony at 18:30. The participants are certainly looking forward to being cheered and cheered on by as many spectators as possible on the banks of the river Main
