Covid-19, better known to many as "coronavirus", is currently dominating the media. Although the course of the disease is harmless for the majority of those infected and many even do not even realize that they are carrying the virus, the uncertainty in the population grows with every report. This not only leads to hoarding, but also to the cancellation or postponement of major events. This now also affects the Light + Building trade fair, which has been postponed to September.
Because Covid19 has now long since arrived in Europe, this has necessitated a new assessment of the situation in close consultation with the health department of the city of Frankfurt. A multi-stage health check of trade fair visitors from China is required, which can only be realised by Messe Frankfurt at disproportionate expense. In addition, travel restrictions are increasingly being imposed, making it difficult for potential visitors and exhibitors alike to take part in the fair. For this reason, the organiser has decided to postpone Light + Building.
New date: Light + Building in mid or late September 2020
Light + Building is the most important international industry gathering for architects, industry, trades, commerce and planners. As an innovation forum and interdisciplinary marketplace, it is also a guarantor for business initiation, contacts and a sustainable future.
Parallel to the trade fair, the Luminale also takes place every two years. The biennial for light art and urban design regularly attracts thousands of visitors with numerous illuminations in Frankfurt and Offenbach, as well as accompanying events. Despite this, the Luminale will take place as planned from March 12 to 15.
