(kus) Lord Mayor Peter Feldmann opened the exhibition "René Magritte. The Betrayal of Images." Already on the afternoon of February 9, children had the pleasure of viewing the paintings of the Belgian painter in advance.
The painter René Magritte (1898-1967) is a magician of enigmatic images. From 10 February to 5 June, the Schirn is devoting a concentrated solo exhibition to the great Belgian Surrealist, mapping his relationship to the philosophy of his time. Magritte did not see himself as an artist, but rather as a thinking person who communicated his thoughts through painting. The exhibition highlights Magritte's engagement with philosophy in five chapters.
