New TATORT to be shot in Frankfurt

Janneke and Brix are back in action. The next TATORT around the popular investigative team from the Main metropolis will be filmed in Frankfurt and the surrounding area until 3 April. This is now the eleventh assignment for the duo to be staged under the working title „Die Guten und die Bösen“ by Hessischer Rundfunk (hr) on behalf of ARD Degeto. Of course Margarita Broich and Wolfram Koch take over the leading roles again. Petra K. Wagner sits on the director's chair, the script was written by David Ungureit.

The new assignment of the Frankfurt investigative team is becoming very topical due to the scandals that the Hessian police are currently struggling with. It's about a murderer suspected in the ranks of the police and a case of vigilante justice. The value system of the commissioners is shaking and forcing them to question their police work. Hannelore Elsner will also be there, returning to the TATORT, for which she had identified Lea Sommer - her character from the series “Die Kommissarin“ - in 1997 as Commissioner.

On the content of the new TATORTS: After a night of drinking, Janneke and Brix are called to a crime scene with a heavy hangover: A man was apparently tortured in a lonely forest hut and then murdered. To her surprise, police chief Ansgar Matzerath (Peter Lohmeyer) confesses at the scene of the crime. He claims to have killed the man because he kidnapped and raped his wife seven years ago. He does not attach importance to mitigating circumstances and demands a harsh punishment for himself. The commissioners begin their interrogation complicated by extensive renovation work in the police station and parallel coaching sessions. Is Matzerath really the killer? Is the victim really his wife's rapist? What does the long retired commissioner (Hannelore Elsner) know, who at that time worked on the case and never solved it and still hunts her own demons? Step by step they join the pieces of the puzzle together and come up against new questions that concern their own work and shake their self-image as police officers.

Jan Velten (camera), Manfred Döring (set design), Christian Mathias (sound), Silke Franken (editing),   Stefanie Bieker (costume design) and Nathalie Mischel (casting) take care of the realisation of the material. The production is managed by Dominik Diers, the editorial office by Liane Jessen and Erin Högerle (both hr) and Birgit Titze (ARD Degeto). The TATORT will probably be shown next year.
