(kus) Since January 23, the municipal library presents its media in a new catalog. In the portal, readers can search for all 750,000 media of the library comfortably and find them faster, browse more beautifully and use individual functions. This is made possible by modern search engine technology and features that offer suitable search suggestions in the case of unclear spellings or typing errors, among other things.
Refinement options for the search results enable a targeted search. Users can create watch lists, view new acquisitions and find regular media tips for reading, listening and watching on the portal. Library director Sabine Homilius sees the new catalogue as a milestone: "Readers expect contemporary forms of presentation and research options from a library. With the new portal, we are now really making people want to browse our holdings digitally and discover new things."
As before, readers can also view their personal media account, renew media or pre-order media in the catalogue. The responsive design enables unrestricted use of the portal on all mobile devices.
Since January 23, it has also been easier to search in the school libraries of the public library. The catalogue, which lists the holdings of the 108 school libraries in the network of the School Library Service, has been revised accordingly and then presents itself with a fresh design and improved search options.
