Philipp Demandt, Director of the Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt, the Städel Museum and the Liebieghaus Skulpturensammlung on the reopenings of the houses: "The fact that we have succeeded in convincing our lenders in the most important international museums to substantially extend our special exhibitions in many personal talks over the past weeks is a special sign of solidarity and proof of the outstanding reputation of our houses. For this unique opportunity to show masterpieces by Frida Kahlo, Edgar Degas, Auguste Rodin and John Singer Sargent to our audiences now months longer than planned, I thank my colleagues worldwide from the bottom of my heart and wish our visitors much pleasure."

In order for the three houses to be allowed to resume operations, comprehensive hygiene and protective measures against the spread of the coronavirus (Covid-19) must be implemented. These are as follows:

The precautionary measures for infection control include. a visitor restriction and better regulation of visitors through online available time slot tickets, optimized visitor management in the houses and increased cleaning of neuralgic points. Visitors are made aware of the hygiene regulations on site. It is important to observe the distance rule of at least 1.5 metres and the sneezing and coughing etiquette in the houses, and to wear mouth and nose protection. This can be brought in or purchased at the ticket booths.

The Schirn's opening hours will be extended to include Mondays, starting on May 11. The MINISCHIRN will remain closed for the time being. Regular opening hours apply to the Städel and Liebieghaus.

Excepted from the opening are the library& Mediathek in the Städel Museum and the Cafés of the museums. The Schirn Café offers food and drinks to go.
