What was the hope that big events like the CSD Frankfurt can be celebrated again normally this year. That we can experience a large, colorful demonstration procession, lie in our arms and enjoy together on the Konstablerwache numerous colorful program points. But it will not come so. The board of the CSD Frankfurt e.V. has now decided that. Because although there is a vaccine, the situation is still so uncertain and in constant change that no one knows how it will develop in the coming months.
Of course, they will not completely do without the CSD this year. If only because its message is far too important. In close consultation with the artistic team, it was therefore decided that the Frankfurt CSD 2021 will take place in July, as last year, in a significantly slimmed-down form. This means that there will be a rally with a small musical program on the Römerberg on Saturday, July 17, 2021, as there was last year. Afterwards, a foot demonstration through the city center is planned. This will of course not be as big and loud as the usual marches, but CSD Frankfurt e.V. can at least demonstrate the visibility of the LGBTI community this way. And that, unfortunately, is still something that can't be done without in 2021.
For the organizers, the health of all visitors is paramount. That's why the big, three-day celebration and remembrance can't happen in 2021. Nevertheless, there should be the CSD in any case. If everything goes well, then in addition to the traditional CSD Saturday on July 17, 2021 with rally and march, also in the form of a "mini-CSD" in early autumn. The warm temperatures could still allow celebrations under the open sky. There should be a decision by June at the latest. The exact program for the rally on the Römerberg and the march will follow soon!
