1994 - 25 years ago - Frankfurt galleries, which had joined together in 1983 to form a community of interests (IG), organised their first joint event at the Frankfurter Kunstverein. A quarter of a century later, the "start of the season" has become an integral part of Frankfurt's cultural life. An entire weekend in September, art lovers can stroll through Frankfurt galleries, get to know artists personally, take part in the rich mediation offerings - and above all experience high-quality exhibitions of contemporary art.
The community of interests has once again invited 35 IG galleries, eight guest galleries, 15 off-rooms, other art locations, and the ART FOYER of the DZ BANK Art Collection to the 25th start of the season. The start of the season is under the patronage of Dr. Ina Hartwig, Head of the Department of Culture: "I would like to congratulate all the players involved on the 25th anniversary of the start of the Frankfurt Galleries season. They have succeeded in making this format a valued date in the cultural calendar of the Main metropolis and have done so for many years. More than 50 galleries and art institutions promise this year again a versatile enjoyment of art with a unique anniversary exhibition, numerous guided tours and lectures."
The 25th Anniversary of the Art of the World. The season starts with over 50 exhibition venues and is a partner of THE FRANKFURT ART EXPERIENCE, the four-day art festival in Frankfurt, which expects 15,000 visitors* with lectures and discussions as well as guided tours and the art fair Paper Positions, which will take place in Frankfurt for the first time. 25 Years Season Start of the Frankfurt Galleries" in the rooms of Galerie Lachenmann will provide an entertaining retrospective of the joint activities of the Interessengemeinschaft Galerien in Frankfurt with documents, posters, photographs and memorabilia.
