Good news for all travellers and commuters who are suffering from hunger at Frankfurt main station: After being closed for several months due to water damage, the Frankfurt Markthalle, the food court in the main station, has now reopened. “We are very pleased that travellers at Frankfurt Central Station can once again enjoy the gastronomic offerings in the Frankfurt Markthalle”, say Christopher Wohlfarth, Head of Rental, Central Regional Division of DB Station&Service AG and Thomas Wiesel, CEO of the market hall operator Lagardère Travel Retail Deutschland, on the occasion of the reopening, which many rail customers have been longing for. “Together we are convinced that the close cooperation of all those involved has now led to a redesigned and even more beautiful Frankfurt market hall.“
The culinary centre of the main station was extensively renovated in just under 6 months and now offers rail travellers, commuters and station visitors a varied selection of a total of nine fresh food & beverage offers on 1,000 square metres. “We have used the renovation phase to preserve the tried and tested and the popular, while at the same time making the good even better“, Thomas is pleased.
Classics and innovations
The restaurants of Nordsee and Burger King present themselves in the same familiar form as the Heinz Bar, popular with visitors for its special Frankfurt charm. Thomas Wiesel: „The guests of Thai Wok, dean&david, Coffee Fellows, Zeiss and Kamps can not only look forward to their favourite dishes and products, but also to the hospitality in a new, even fresher ambience. The appearance of the successful Italian food concept “ciao bella“ is completely new: Now guests can also enjoy the fast, delicious and freshly prepared Italian classics such as pasta, pizza and crispy fresh salads in the Frankfurt market hall.
Thanks to all parties involved
The closure was of course not only annoying for customers, but also for the employees of the local providers a difficult time. Oliver Hempel, Executive Vice President Strategy & Development at Lagardère Travel Retail, is well aware of this. He is using the reopening to thank all concept partners and in particular the employees as well as all craftsmen and companies involved for the smooth implementation of the work on this extensive construction project. His thanks also go to Deutsche Bahn for their constructive cooperation, without which the reopening of the Frankfurt market hall this early summer would not have been possible. „I would also like to express my special thanks to all our guests for their understanding and patience during the construction period“, says Oliver Hempel.
