From 11th to 19th century May on the Roßmarkt
Actually it should be only a unique event around the green sauce, which Maja Wolff (alias Anton Le Goff) and Torsten Müller had invented eleven years ago. But when this evening in the Brotfabrik was met with enormous enthusiasm by all those involved, in 2009 it became the first seven-day festival whose finale had to be moved to the much larger Frischezentrum for capacity reasons. After this experiment could be booked as a complete success, the way of the festival to the city centre was obvious. With the support of city councillor Markus Frank, the Roßmarkt was the perfect venue. The big success did not want to come here in the first years yet. But meanwhile the Green Sauce Festival has become a fixture in Frankfurt's cultural calendar and the evening events are often completely sold out shortly after the start of advance sales. This is also the case this year. Only for the 15th of May, on which the wonderful cabaret artist Chin Meyer will lead through the evening, there are still a few remaining tickets. The artist from Berlin, who, as a financial cabaret artist and capitalism connoisseur, shows Frankfurters his view of the world.
However, the festival has long since become much more than “just“ the evening events. The market around the festival tent also attracts thousands of visitors to the Roßmarkt every year, who meet here for a week to enjoy a feast or a cosy get-together. And this year this will be particularly exciting, because the Green Sauce will not only present itself in competition, but also on the market very internationally. In addition to the classic potato, salmon or potato pancake offers, you can also try more exotic varieties - from oriental to Caribbean, with wraps, falafel, burritos or crêpes. This is the culinary proof that green sauce can combine different cultures.
There are of course selected wines, cider from the wineries and wine presses of the festival, as well as many other drinks on offer. And on the weekend the whole thing will be accompanied by live music on the open-air stage. The market is open daily from 11 May to 19 May from 11:00 to 20:00!
