With bus and train out into the green

The world is green again, the flowers are blooming, the fountains are bubbling - so it's time to take some nice trips on the weekend. Fittingly, the municipal public transport company traffiQ is sending the two Frankfurt "leisure lines" to attractive destinations in the countryside again from Good Friday, April 19.

On the one hand, there is the Lohrbergbus, which takes its passengers - as the name suggests - to the Lohrberg. On weekends and public holidays, it operates as bus line 83 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. every half hour between Friedberger Warte and Lohrberg. This special offer is linked to the appeal not to drive your own car to the Lohrberg, if possible, in order to protect this special local recreation area.

On the other hand, the bus line 45 will serve two more excursion destinations starting on Good Friday: The rowing village and the Gerbermühle on the Main can then be reached from Südbahnhof, for example. Line 45 has taken over this task from bus line 46 and will run along the Deutschherrnufer to Kaiserlei every half hour from 7 p.m. on Fridays and throughout the weekend until around midnight.

Also trams and subways go into the countryside

Of course, other Frankfurt lines also go into the countryside: From the terminus of tram line 12 at Rheinlandstraße, the Schwanheimer Wald and Schwanheimer Wiesen are not far away. The tram stop of line 17 at Oberschweinstiege is an ideal starting point for excursions to the Frankfurt city forest with the StadtWaldHaus and the pheasantry. And of course there is still the classic: take the U3 to Hohemark in the Taunus. You can also leave your car at home for these excursions. Many season tickets allow you to take additional people for free on weekends without an additional ticket.
