Frankfurt's shopping streets

Shopping beyond the Zeil

The Zeil is one of the busiest shopping streets in Germany. With 14,390 visitors per hour counted between the central squares of Hauptwache and Konstablerwache, Zeil even took first place in the Germany-wide ranking last year. So it's no wonder that everyone who thinks of shopping at Frankfurt automatically thinks of the traditional shopping mile. But there are many other corners in Frankfurt that offer a wide range of shopping opportunities. Here we present you some especially beautiful shopping streets of the city.

Berger road

For many Frankfurters, Berger Strasse is the most popular shopping street, as the shops here often have much more charm and individuality than the branches of large chains on the Zeil. From the traditional bookstore Ypsilon to living room accessories and delicatessen to antiques, shoes or exquisite wines, here you will find everything your shopping heart desires. The weekly market at the Uhrentürmchen, the Merianplatz as a central meeting point or the many restaurants in the upper area of the street make the Berger so beautiful and rightly so popular.

Bridge Quarter

The little corner in Sachsenhausen has developed into one of the most creative places in the city in recent years. Numerous manufactories have established themselves here, offering individual and unusual products. Gifts, fashion, homemade or second-hand can be purchased here. Here you will find a crime bookstore, specialities from Portugal, exquisite whisky, a comic bookstore and delicious tarts. And if you love apple wine, you can go shopping at Jens Becker's apple wine shop after the tour.

Leipziger Street

There's been a lot going on at the Leipzig festival in recent years. The shopping street in Bockenheim impresses with a colourful mix of multicultural grocery stores, designer shops and unusual shops such as “Pappnase“, a specialist shop for artistry, theatre and games. The K43 is one of the best cheese shops in town. Especially worthwhile is a look into the picturesque backyards, where also some shops hide. And also the Zalando Outlet lures with great bargains on the Bockenheimer shopping mile.

If you like shopping exclusively, you can't miss Goethestraße. Here you will find pure luxury. In addition to Prada, Dior, Cartier and Co., the Albrecht perfumery is a real traditional company here, with which Goethe is said to have already made purchases.  But the fashion house Pfüller also stands for Frankfurt family tradition and is represented in the street with two high-quality shops. On the parallel running Freßgass there are then a few nice opportunities to get the necessary refreshment for shopping with a coffee, delicatessen specialities or various culinary offers.

Swiss Street

In Sachsenhausen, the Schweizer Straße lures with a lively mixture of small design shops, department stores, drugstores, bookstores and Second Hand. Also detours into the side streets are recommendable here. For the little ones there is just as much beauty as for the next dinner at home or for a relaxed Sunday on the sofa. The nearby Museumsufer also offers a cultural complement to the shopping tour. And when your feet get heavy, various cider taverns offer the perfect refuge.
