Goose dinner in Frankfurt

Goose is part of many people's Christmas time! Especially in the classic variant with dumplings, chestnuts and red cabbage, the crispy roasted goose enjoys unbroken popularity. Therefore, many restaurants and bars offer special goose menus from November to Christmas. In doing so, one usually relies on tried and tested methods, but also tries to give the traditional dish a very special touch. There are numerous possibilities in Frankfurt to celebrate the traditional goose food as a couple or in a larger circle.

We have selected a few locations for you, where you can eat especially delicious goose - from the classic apple wine industry to upscale cuisine. There is definitely something for everyone!



 

OSCAR´s - Brasserie Moderne

In the Oscar`s at the Steigenberger Frankfurter Hof, Frankfurt Hof chef Philipp Henkes serves delicious goose creations: Traditionally the goose is filled with apples, chestnuts, onions or prunes. It is served with red cabbage, dumplings and a bound sauce from the gravy. On request, however, goose roasts can also be served in Alsatian style. This is prepared with bratwurst filling and sauerkraut. Also Swedish Martinsgans with Brussels sprouts and apple puree can be ordered.

Lohrberg Schänke

On Frankfurt's local mountain, oven-fresh goose roast is served with goose sauce, potato dumplings, red cabbage with apples, Brussels sprouts and chestnuts. Mhhhhhh! A delicious farmer's bread with goose fat is served in advance.

Chicken market inn 

In the new old town at the beginning of November, the inn at the Hühnermarkt will open its doors to guests. From 20 November Hans Peter Zarges and his team will be serving delicious farmer goose. Guests then have the choice between goose breast or goose leg with apple red cabbage, raw potato dumplings, glazed chestnuts and mugwort jus for each 29.90 €.

Oberschweinsteige&gt.nbsp;

The Restaurant Oberschweinsteige in Frankfurt's Stadtwald offers a wide range of services up to the age of 23.12. three different goose variants an. 

The first variant is a 4-course menu with a whole goose, orderable from 2 persons. The menu includes lamb's lettuce as starter, a pumpkin cream soup as starter, the goose with chestnuts, two kinds of dumplings and apple red cabbage as main course as well as a homemade gingerbread fried apple tiramisu as dessert. 

Variant 2 is a 3-course menu, which can be ordered without advance order. The same applies to variant 3, the goose roast a la Carte.

Schuch’s Restaurant

Also in Alt Praunheim flutter from 01.11. until 23.12. the geese on the plate. In the traditional restaurant there is a special menu with crispy goose leg or tender goose breast on the menu, with mugwort sauce, cranberry pear, potato dumplings and apple red cabbage - lactose-free and on request without “Kribbes-Krabbes“ or gluten-free. The menu can also be ordered with apple wine specialities such as quince apple wine and apple dessert wine Solera. (Without drinks 38 € p.P., with apple wine specialities 49 € p.P.)

Restaurant Alte Scheune

In the historical ambience of the old barn in Nieder-Erlenbach you will be able to enjoy the old barn from the 1st floor on.11. besides goose consommé é also ¼ goose with potato dumplings, red cabbage or Brussels sprouts and goose sauce offered.

But also whole geese can be ordered here. For 4 persons there is the „Pommersche Börde“ filled with Hack, Speck und Champions (for 110 €) or the „Golden Goose“ glazed with honey, filled with Hack, pears and walnuts (also for 110 €) on advance order. clubhouse Ginnheimer Höhe

Gänse-Saison (from 7th day of pregnancy) November) there is goose breast and leg with apple red cabbage or bacon rose cabbage, chestnuts and dumplings again here.

The "real hit" is again this year the stuffed whole goose with all the trimmings! This traditional goose menu has a lot to offer:

- at the beginning the homemade goose fat with a hearty bread

- then a lamb salad with bacon-garlic croutons

and finally to 5.5 kg goose

- the veal sausage filling with pistachios, baked apple and chestnuts, bacon rose cabbage and apple red cabbage, dumplings and the delicious sauce!!!

This popular "all-round carefree package" has been available for almost 15 years in the clubhouse and depending on the "feed users" this menu is sufficient for 4 to 6 people - always at the all-inclusive price of € 139!

Roomers Frankfurt 

In the restaurant of the hotel is written from 11. From November to December 25, a delicious goose menu is on the menu. For 39 Euro per person you can expect goose consommé as a starter, followed by a main course of classic goose. For dessert, a Crème Brûlée from the plum sweetens the whole thing. In the traditional tavern in downtown Frankfurt, goose according to grandma's recipe is on the menu during the winter season. You can choose between roasted goose leg and roasted goose breast, each with poultry jus, potato dumplings, apple red cabbage and cranberries.

To the lame donkey

The rustic apple wine restaurant in Niederursel is a beautiful traditional restaurant that is run with a lot of Frankfurt warmth. From November you can enjoy crispy goose legs with red cabbage, potato dumplings and stuffed baked apple. We especially recommend the fresh pumpkin cream soup and the warm chocolate cake with homemade lemon and mint ice cream as a prickly pear.

Bornheimer Ratskeller

When eating geese in the Rat cellar, conviviality is written in capital letters. because here only whole geese come as a menu from 4 persons on the table. It comes with red cabbage puree, stuffed baked apple and napkin dumplings. As a starter chestnut soup with goose liver strudel is served, as a dessert pear tart with homemade walnut ice cream - all for 48 € per person (gross). This menu must be reserved at least three days in advance.

Schreiber-Heyne

Die traditionelle Apfelweinwirtschaft Schreiber-Heyne auf der Mörfelder Landstraße bringt in erster Linie hessische Klassiker auf den Teller. Und das immerhin seit 1897! In der Vorweihnachtszeit steht aber auch hier Gans auf der Speisekarte. Ab dem 06.11. gibt es hier wieder Gänseessen mit ganzer ofenfrischer Hafermastgans mit gefülltem Bratapfel ab 4 Personen. Dazu werden hausgemachtes Gänseschmalz mit frischem Graubrot, ein kleiner Feldsalat mit Speck, Maronen, Rotkohl und Kartoffelklöße serviert. Der Preis pro Gans liegt bei 136,50 €. Reserviert werden kann das Menü täglich ab 18:00 Uhr, an Samstagen und Sonntagen ab 12:00 Uhr.

Für 25,50 € gibt es auf der Saisonkarte aber auch knusprigen Gänsebraten mit Bratapfel, Rotkraut und Kartoffelklößen.

Zum Storch am Dom

In dem historischen Restaurant im Herzen von Frankfurt am Main steht ofenfrische Gänsekeule mit Schmorapfel auf der Karte. Dazu serviert werden Apfelrotkohl und Kartoffelklöße. Auch gebratene Gänseleber „Berliner Art“ mit Röstzwiebeln und Apfelscheiben auf Kartoffelschnee kann verköstigt werden.
