Hochheim market

A modern traditional market for the entire family

It's time! From 09 to 13 November 2018, the largest autumn market in the centre of Germany will be celebrated. The Hochheim market has been celebrated for over five centuries. And even if today high-tech has just found its way into the rides, tradition is still written in capital letters here.  The offer that attracts guests from the entire Rhine-Main region is great: Krammarkt, trade and vehicle exhibition, trade fair tent, livestock market, amusement park with high-tech and family rides, a marquee with daily live music and also a large historical market part make the Hochheimer Markt one of the most beautiful folk festivals in the region also in 2018.

One of the highlights is the 55 metre high European Giant Ferris Wheel, which is considered the highest transportable ferris wheel with rotating and open gondolas and is located in the middle of the event area. From here you have a very special view of the festivities. Especially in the evening hours it's beautiful! But of course the Ferris wheel is not the only attraction. A total of around 700 market shops will be represented on the 75,000 square metre event site over the five days of the event, including around 400 Krammark dealers, 70 snack stands, 60 wine, mulled wine, beer and other beverage stands as well as an impressive number of fairground businesses. Over 120 other dealers will be presenting gardening equipment for the home and household sector, health and fitness articles, household appliances and much more in a large exhibition tent and on the outdoor exhibition area. Integrated into the outdoor area, visitors will find the Dippegass, where dealers will present a large selection of pottery, pans and various household products.

Adrenaline junkies get their money's worth with the Maxxx Mega G4 booster. The Booster Maxxx accelerates to over 100 km/h and acts with a force of 4G on its passengers during a rollover. You first have to dare to do that – but if you dare, you will get a special kind of thrill! Also to be found in Hochheim is the roller coaster “Black Hole“ – Europe's only family roller coaster in the dark – or Europe's highest transportable slide, ultimate fun for the whole family. For those who like it more traditional, there are classics like bumper cars, music express, break dancers, Taumler or the wave plane as well as a multitude of other children's rides, family rides and amusement shops.

In addition to the rides, the Hochheim market also inspires with its culinary offerings and its entertainment program. The Hochheim winegrowers offer a rich selection of Hochheim wine and sparkling wine from various vineyards and quality levels at their wine stands, in particular, of course, the Glühwein, which belongs to the Hochheim market. In the large marquee, which can accommodate over 2,500 guests, live music events await you every day. Until late into the night, the Hausmann family, especially the young market visitors, guarantees pure party atmosphere on weekends.

Market Tuesday all in the name of the family

The Hochheimer Markt Tuesday is all about family. The all-day family day is attended not only by rides but also by many gastronomic and confectionery stands. There will be special offers for families all day long. Visitors can tell which stands are taking part by the posters “Family Day – we are taking part“. It is particularly nice that the families were also thought of during the big final fireworks. Launch is already at 7:00. This will enable even small visitors to experience the great colourfulness of the spectacle.

Animal on the Hochheimer market

An established tradition of the Hochheim market are the animals that will be the focus of attention on three of the five holidays.

The horse breeding association Main-Taunus-Wiesbaden invites to the beginning on Saturday of the market to the district horse show. The city of Hochheim and the Federal Association of German Galloway Breeders invite you to the Galloway Young Cattle Show on the following market Sunday, which is regarded as the largest show in Germany. And there is also a competition for the visitors of the animal show: they decide the “Miss or the Mister Hochheim“ and can also win prizes.

Horse and Galloway shows start at 9:30 am.

Complete animal offer “becomes “with the big cattle market on market Monday. There it mows, whinnies, moans or clucks already starting from 7:00 o'clock in the morning.

Special highlight for children: On all three days there is the possibility to ride Shetland ponies or to lead them. The area around Käsbachtal offers ideal conditions for this. Furthermore, there will be the animal exhibition “Animals from the Land“, which will offer all young and old visitors the opportunity to see the animals up close and to impart a little knowledge by means of display boards.

The train is turning

About the Hochheimer Markt area and the so-called Käsbachwiesen, the popular Bimmelbahn takes its rounds to take visitors to the various events at the cattle market area. On all three days - the horse show on market Saturday, the large young animal Galloway show on market Sunday and the livestock market on market Monday - the train will commute regularly and free of charge from two stops (Königberger Ring/Danziger Allee and Königberger Ring/Am Weiher) between the livestock market and market grounds. During the trip, the passengers learn all kinds of interesting information about the city of Hochheim am Main, the Hochheim market and its cattle market events.

The train will thus not only make the short journey to the event site easier, but will also provide passengers with useful information about Hochheim and offer them a bit of relaxation from “shopping stress“.

You see, the Hochheim market is worth a visit for young and old!
