Ein leckeres Eis ist doch was Feines - nicht nur, aber ganz besonders im Sommer, wenn die Hitze die Stadt fest im Griff hat. Was gibt es da Schöneres, als sich in einem der zahlreichen Eiscafés der Stadt eine kleine Auszeit zu genehmigen und mit einem leckeren Eisbecher für die nötige Abkühlung zu sorgen. In diesem Special stellen wir Euch ein paar von unseren Lieblings-Eiscafés in Frankfurt vor, in denen Ihr nicht nur die Klassiker wie Spaghetti-Eis bestellen könnt, sondern in denen Ihr mitunter auch richtig ausgefallene Eiskreationen auf der Karte findet.

The days are getting longer, the temperatures higher and slowly but surely the much longed-for summer feeling sets in with many. The prospect of relaxing hours in the sun, cocktails in the beach club or culinary delights under the open sky let winter blues and spring fatigue finally evaporate.

And of course what should not be missing in any summer experience? Right, a refreshing ice cream!
Classics such as chocolate, vanilla, stracciatella or strawberry are real perennial favourites, but new, unusual flavour combinations are the trend.

Those who like to treat their palate with creative, high-quality ice cream creations, we recommend a trip to Frankfurt's picturesque Westend, to the Pâtisserie Anna Reckmann. In the beautiful shop in Reuterweg 69, not only noble pralines are created, but also delicious handmade ice creams from the finest ingredients. Whether for after work as a sweet end to a working day or simply in between: The cool compositions are delicious to melt away and definitely have addictive potential.

From vegan to creamy

Both milk ice cream varieties and vegan sorbets are offered, made from the pulp of fully ripe fruits of the best quality. High-quality ingredients such as Piedmont hazelnuts and fine cocoa beans are also used in the milk ice creations.
There are currently ten tempting varieties to choose from: Sorrel & White Chocolate, Apricot Rosemary, Vanilla Olive Oil, Sesame Caramel, Salted Caramel, Florentine, Raspberry Sage, Piedmont Hazelnut, Chocolate Choc and Chocolate Sorbet.
Particularly interesting: for the production of her original ice cream compositions, Anna Reckmann uses in particular products that are also used in the production of her noble pâtisserie. For example, she transforms the popular Florentines made of almonds, fine chocolate and honey into a wonderful, icy treat. You can taste that behind the extraordinary compositions, which are handmade on site, there is a know-how about taste nuances, chemistry and pâtisserie knowledge from Paris that has grown over the years.

ANTIPODEAN Gelato

The ice cream at this little ice cream parlor in the North End is really extremely delicious. In addition to seasonally changing flavors and popular classics, there are also special flavors every week that are only on sale for a few days. Natural ingredients are used here in the production of the ice cream creations, whose recipes are developed with the 2017 Gelato World Champion (U30), Taila Semerano. Chemicals, artificial flavor enhancers or powders from the factory do not enter the (ice cream) bag at ANTIPODEAN Gelato. If you want to experience how good ice cream can taste made from natural ingredients - sourced from the region as far as possible - this is the place for you.

AROMA Eismanufaktur

Since 2017, Frankfurt residents have finally been able to enjoy AROMA ice cream, where classic Italian ice cream meets modern ice cream creations. So here come not only the usual varieties such as strawberry, vanilla or stracciatella in the wafer or in the cup. More unusual varieties such as lavender ice cream, vegan pistachio ice cream, avocado banana and raffaello ice cream (delicious) are also on offer here. You can really taste that great value is placed on fresh ingredients.

Eis-Cafe Olimpio

The space on Oeder Weg, which is quite spacious in itself, fills up quickly when the sun shines. Then the North End meets at the Olimpio to enjoy the delicious ice cream here. Various spaghetti ice cream variations are on the menu here, including one with fresh fruit. A decent portion at a fair price - and really tasty too!

Eiscafé Riviera

In Schwanheim, the ice cream from Eiscafé Riviera regularly causes storms of enthusiasm. So if you're ever out and about in this lovely part of town, be sure to stop by and treat yourself to a Mexico cup, a kiwi cup, or just a mixed ice cream. The ice cream is made fresh on site every day with selected ingredients - and it tastes just wonderful!

Eis Fontanella

The best ice cream in the station district? Quite clearly, you can get it at EIS FONTANELLA. Since 1957, the family business has stood for the best ice cream enjoyment. The fruit cup or the Coppa Siciliana are particularly refreshing on hot summer days. And "on the hand" there are delicious, homemade varieties such as cream cherry, mango or cookies. Simply delicious!

Coccola

The ice cream factory convinces with original, changing varieties. You can taste that this homemade organic ice cream is made with a lot of love and good ingredients like poppy seeds, cinnamon, basil or cream cheese. Since there is always something new to "taste" here, you will quickly become a regular here.

MINT

Since 2013, the family-run Café on Berger has been wowing visitors with its many delicious ice cream, cake and muffin creations. Here, too, great importance is attached to the fact that preservatives are completely avoided and that the range of gluten- and lactose-free treats is constantly being expanded.

Rosa Canina

Vanilla pumpkin seed ice cream, New York Cheescake ice cream, Black Sesame - these and other varieties make Rosa Canina's handmade organic ice cream a real insider tip. But even the classics taste really delicious here. Especially refreshing on hot days: yoghurt-orange or raspberry-basil!

Marie - Fine Ice Cream & Coffee

Here, artificial flavors and preservatives are banned. You can taste the good, fresh ingredients, in classics as well as in more unusual varieties that are always on offer here, such as apple cider ice cream, lime-basil, coconut-pineapple or quark-sesame-caramel. Simply delicious!

Eis Christina

For many Frankfurt residents, one thing is certain: "Eis Christina" has the best ice cream in town. And so, especially in fine weather, very long queues form here, at which not infrequently even motorists despair. For more than 40 years, the ice cream café a real institution in Frankfurt Nordend and inspires with classics as well as with very special varieties such as the Green Sauce ice cream.

BizziIce

With varieties like Green Smoothie, Semolina Caramel, Blackberry Yogurt and Blueberry Cream, made with fresh organic ingredients, Bizziice has quickly built a loyal following. The branches in Sachsenhausen and in the Nordend (Koselstr. 42) attract visitors from other parts of the city. You should try it - it's really worth the trip!
