Frankfurt - Fluffy, sweet, but not too sweet and incredibly delicious - that's how it has to taste, the perfect Kreppel: just exactly like the winners of the "Best of Kreppel" campaign 2016. For the second time in a row, the team around master confectioner Daniel Anderlohr secured the award of the event portal Frankfurt-Tipp.de. From 12 January 2016 to 08 February 2016, users of the website had time to nominate the bakers of their favourite kreppel. Votes were cast online at frankfurt-tipp.de - and the more than 44,000 fans of Frankfurt-Tipp's Facebook page also voted.
Then, just in time for the carnival weekend, the winners were decided. The Konditorei-Cafe Altes Rathaus in Hofheim am Taunus was able to outdo the competition for the second time. That would have to be particularly pleased the Hofheimer citizens, because the team of Daniel Adelohr is not at all long there at home:
Under the name Konditorei Hollhorst the Kreppel champions were settled over 70 years and three generations at the Römerberg in the Frankfurt city center. Due to rising rents and overall rather uncertain conditions, they had looked around for an alternative last year. Now they are enriching Hofheim's culinary offerings in a prominent location.
"We are very happy that Frankfurt's regular customers have not forgotten us and that we have now already found new loyal customers here in Hofheim," Daniel Anderlohr confirmed at the ceremonial presentation of the certificate by Frankfurt-Tipp.de. The certificate, he assured, will definitely get a place of honor in the Café at the old town hall.
Who wants to try the best Kreppel from Frankfurt and the surrounding area, must hurry. Because now that the carnival season is over again, Daniel Anderlohr is first taking another Kreppel baking break: "Kreppel are wonderful, but we also have so many other specialties," says the pastry chef. Who knows, maybe Frankfurt-Tipp.de will soon be looking for the Best of Frankfurter Kranz - you can be curious.
