THE STORY OF CHRISTOPHER STREET DAY
The riots around the bar "Stonewall Inn" on New York's Christopher Street on June 28, 1969 are considered the beginning of the emancipation history of gays and lesbians. It was the beginning of the worldwide LGBTQ movement, which today, 50 years later, is celebrated in numerous cities around the world through Christopher Street Day, partly as a strong social statement, partly as a big party. Especially in times of anti-democratic currents, the issue of human diversity is more relevant today than ever.
