The Bearbite prefers to be in a bad mood. That's why he sleeps in a mouldy bed, has painted his walls brown and prefers to keep the shutters closed, lest another ray of sunshine tickle his nose! The Tingeli, who can best be imagined as a cross between a butterfly and a squirrel, doesn't care about the bad mood. He likes the bear bite and thinks that he could invite his neighbours over for apple juice and cake one day. He has yet to teach the Bearbite how to do that. Most of the time the cake is too dry for him. "You can give it to the rabbits!" he grumbles. No problem for the Tingeli: the rabbit family loves to come over for cake and is happy about the spontaneous invitation. Will the king penguin, who always knows everything better, and the grey heron family, who attach great importance to cleanliness, also make friends with the bear bite?
With endearing characters, fine powers of observation and a lot of humour, author Annette Pehnt tells of friendship and a community in which everyone is allowed to be who they are and belong as a matter of course.
