It was about time again to bring singer and guitarist Giuseppe Porrello aka Gastone to the Langen Summer Games - and for the first time at the Paulaner Biergarten. The Frankfurter with Sardinian-Sicilian roots reminds with his unmistakable voice of cigars and whisky, rough like 30s sandpaper. Gastone tells sometimes ironic, sometimes socially critical stories of gains and losses on his travels with his international band; from hapless love in Italy, to passion in Germany, to great happiness in France. He describes his songs himself as spaghetti ska with a sauce of world music. The musical mix of ska, polka and Balkan pop gets every dance leg moving. Pigeonholing the band's sound might be about as difficult as draining the swamp of the Mafia.
