After more than a year of intense work, the Irish singer & songwriter will release his second studio album "Wasteland, Baby!" on March 01, 2019. On it are the two previously released songs "Almost (Sweet Music)" and "Movement" as well as tracks from his latest EP "Nina Cried Power" and "Shrike". In addition, there are ten brand new songs. Hozier himself describes the content of the album as a search for hope in man, just before the end of the world. His art is profound, sometimes sad and always full of longing. The sound is organic, at home in the blues, influenced by folk, inspired by indie, rock and gospel. Reverberating guitars, cranky rhythms and the distinctive, smoky voice also make the new album a milestone in Hozier's career and an absolute highlight of the year.
Andrew Hozier-Byrne was born in 1990 in Bray, County Wicklow not far from Dublin in the east of Ireland. His father is a blues drummer, his mother an artist. His parents raised Andrew and his brother in the Protestant Quaker faith, which centers on a strict pacifism and a belief in the divine in each individual. At school, Hozier is the class clown and entertainer; at 15, he begins writing songs, dropping out of music studies at Trinity College after six months to record demos for record labels.
