At the end of this year's Residence Festival in Darmstadt you will experience the Italian Opera Night with soloists, the Darmstadt Concert Choir and the Darmstadt Court Orchestra conducted by Wolfgang Seeliger. This year you may dream here in a romantic atmosphere under the Darmstadt starry sky on the Mathildenhöhe with works by Giuseppe Verdi and Gioachino Rossini.
The first part of the evening is dedicated to Giuseppe Verdi's famous opera Nabucco, whose famous prisoners' chorus "Va, pensiero, sull'ali dorate" was seen by Verdi's contemporaries as a call for the unification of the torn Italian people.
