The European architectural photography prize architekturbild has been awarded every two years since 1995. In 2003, architekturbild e.v. took over the supervision, since 2008 the DAM has supported it, and in 2016 the Bundesstiftung Baukultur joined as a third cooperation partner. The competition is aimed at the built environment and the photographic-artistic examination of it and has a predefined motto. In 2019 it is "Joyful Architecture". The common expectations of architecture can be outlined as usability, urban embedding, economic efficiency, sustainability and aesthetics. The fact that architecture can and may also be fun is (too) rarely considered. With this year's prize, photographers were invited to show their viewpoints on joyful architecture - free interpretations possible. The series of images by this year's winner, photographer Dirk Härle, is the focus of the exhibition. All other prizes, awards and recognitions are also on view.
