Frankfurt am Main advanced to become the archetypal metropolis of modernism in the 1920s. Architects working on behalf of the city carry out pioneering work in many areas, which in the 1920s is to give the city a worldwide reputation as a stronghold of modernism and shape architecture and urban planning for decades to come.
The exhibition is part of the cooperation between three municipal museums (Museum Angewandte Kunst, Deutsches Architekturmuseum, Historisches Museum Frankfurt), the newly founded Forum Neues Frankfurt (run by the ernst-may-gesellschaft e.V.) and the City of Frankfurt. The joint initiative represents the Main City's contribution to the Bauhaus anniversary.
