Pablo Picasso (1881-1973) is considered the epitome of the modern artistic genius. With tireless creativity and creative power, he made seemingly effortless use of all genres, techniques and materials. From April 3 to June 30, the Graphische Sammlung of theStädel Museum is dedicating the exhibition "Picasso. Printmaking as Experiment", the Prints and Drawings Collection of theStädel Museum is devoting itself specifically to the artist's printmaking œuvre. More than 60 works by Picasso from the holdings of the Prints and Drawings Department will be presented, supplemented by individual loans from the Museum Ludwig, Cologne, and from private collections. The selection illustrates Picasso's entire development as a printmaker, from his early years in Paris to his late work. Whether etching, drypoint, lithography, or linocut, Picasso adopted a wide variety of printmaking techniques with never-ending curiosity and virtuosity, questioning what he had once found in ever new and experimental ways. The exhibition is structured according to the various printmaking techniques, which are always closely linked to the artist's biography. The graphic suite Vollard, which Picasso created between 1930 and 1937 and with which he fully exploited the diversity of intaglio printing techniques, has its own section in the exhibition. Opening hours: Tue, Wed, Sat, Sun + Holidays 10am-6pm, Thu + Fri 10am-9pm, closed Mondays Text source and further information about this event: http://newsroom.staedelmuseum.de/system/files_force/field/file/2019/st_presse_picasso_druckgrafik_als_experiment_dt.pdf
