Following the huge success of his Happy Show, Stefan Sagmeister, the New York-based graphic design superstar, returns to the Museum Angewandte Kunst in 2019. Together with his studio partner Jessica Walsh, he delivers a very personal, visually impressive plea for the desire for beauty with the new exhibition project Beauty.
With spectacular interactive installations, the renowned design duo Sagmeister & Walsh takes visitors on a sensually pleasurable quest: What is beauty and why are we attracted to it?
Using numerous examples from product design, urban planning, architecture and graphic design, the design duo aims to demonstrate that beautiful actually works better. Supported by insights from psychological aesthetics, history, philosophy and the natural sciences, Sagmeister & Walsh argue that beauty is more than a purely superficial strategy: it influences our everyday lives, stimulates our perceptions and makes the world a better place.
Sagmeister & Walsh: Beauty is a collaboration between the Museum Angewandte Kunst, Frankfurt am Main, and the MAK Vienna. The exhibition was curated in Vienna by Kathrin Pokirny-Nagel and is coordinated at the Museum Angewandte Kunst by Peter Zizka.
