4 female choreographers, 1 ensemble, hardly any time and the stage of the Wartburg - with "Shortcuts" the Hessian State Ballet launches a new format in the 2018.2019 season: away from well-worn production processes, four female choreographers embark on a search for new impulses with the dancers of the Hessian State Ballet.
With Katarzyna Kozielska, whose creative centre as a dancer and choreographer is the Stuttgart Ballet, Sita Ostheimer, who has been working with the Hofesh Shechter Company since 2008 after stints with MS Schrittmacher and Itzik Galili, the Dutch Wubkje Kuindersma, who has already worked for the National Youth Ballet Hamburg under John Neumeier, and Xin Xie, former dancer with Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and young voice of contemporary dance in China, four choreographers have been invited to create works for the Hessisches Staatsballett in a short period of time.
As different as the biographies of the choreographers and the artistic positions they represent are, so different can, should, may be their works created for "Shortcuts". Whether shorter or longer, poetic or explosive, for few or many dancers - there are no limits to the choreographies, except those of time, for they all have little more than a week ...
This production is supervised by theatre pedagogy.
